Hello, i'm haveing a problem! My son has ADHD and has just started school. He's had some problems in class. Such as not paying attention, wanting to do other things that the other children are doing and etc.... The first week of school was going well. (i did inform the teacher and the principal that my son has been evaluated as ADHD child at the teacher meetings that this school has for the kindergardners in the beginging of the school year.) So back to the story. The last day of the first week of school(friday) He had a problem at recess and was sent to the office i was then informed that my son was accused of kicking one of his class mate in the face. (i know my son and he dosen't do anything unless provoked) Any who i was called to have a meeting with the principal, the counceiler, the school nurse, and his teacher. I was surprised that my son could have done such a thing? what could have happened that the result would be a reaction to kick another child in the face. You see my son is very loving effectionate. In the meeting the teacher had told me that it as an altercation he wanted to play with the children and they said no and that was his reaction. but get this she, nether was the teacher's ad nor the teacher her self wasn't there to witness the inccodent.Basically, there wasn't anyone montering the children. I hardly got a word in defence but how my son isn't the type and i've never seen it in him. Well some suggetion has come up in the meeting such as, having a half day of school, Putting my son on medication. Okay the fallowing monday my son had a feaver and according to school regulations a child who has a feaver is sent home untill the feaver resideds. So he stayed home for three days. The thursday he went to school okay. but on that friday i was then called again into the office by the princeipal. Not for hurting a class mate but he had dumped a bottle of soap in the sink and let the sink run with bubbles and that he went to the bathroom and took off his clothes so he can potty, So then again he was sent home for the second time. I was upset and didn't know how to take it in. The fallowing monday i had droped off my son as i alwas have, excorting him to class. He's teacher had told me that her and the principal had decided to put my son on half days. So i was fed up and called his doctor and behavior doc for an appointment, So the next Wednesday he got his appointment, He was then put on medication. the medications was an option that i did take after talking to my son's doctor. So now my son is on ritalin, i know it'll take time for my son to adjust as he is just starting on the meds. But i don't know what to do? is that the way things should be done on behalf if the school. I have done my part in what they has asked and now seems to me that they arn't try on ther part. I reall don't know what to do. I'm more stressed than befor and more irritated that they seem not to care but are in the best intrest of the teacher as she don't really have to deal with him. Please do give me answers i need to know. thanks ↓
