Military couple is seeking to adopt an African American or bi-racial newborn or infant. I am a 33 year old photojournalist with the U.S. Army, my husband, a native of Brazil, is a 30 year old accountant. We own a home in the Midwest, are financially secure (not rich), and have a loving relationship with extended family in the states and in Salvador (Bahia). Only one thing is missing from our lives, a little one. My husband has a low sperm count due to complications from surgery as a teen. I suffer from fibroid tumors. We have tried unsuccessfully to conceive in the past. This past year, I was medically evacuated from Afghanistan back to the states for surgery because of the fibroids (sharp, unbearable pain). Although I was able to return to duty in Afghanistan (a month later), this has only complicated our quest to become parents. We talked about adoption prior to my deployment and surgery. After the surgery, it appears to be our best option for becoming parents. Though we would prefer an infant or newborn, we are open to adopting a child up to age five. We both come from families with members from a variety of racial backgrounds. My mothers family all have very light complexions and curly hair, I have neices and nephews who are White/Black, Latino/Black, etc. My husbands family, being from Brazil, are of a mixed heritage as well. We are looking for a child that will feel at home around his/her family. I will be leaving the military in June and hope to become a stay-at-home mom. My family is composed mostly of civil servants, ministers and educators. Because of this, there is a strong emphasis on education, faith and good citizenship. My situations is At this time I have nothing to offer these babies. I am homeless, unemployed, alone and I just want the best for the babies. The babies' father does not want anything to do with them and I feel it would be too hard on myself and them to keep them. I want to see them go to a good stable home where there is alot of love for them. I do love them, I just know I am unable to provide for them.
