Carolyn,
As you know I had a very interesting to say the least time searching for an adoptive family for my son. After being called a scammer and such here and many and I mean many hours of therapy strictly addressing the future of my son, and hours with a social worker for adoption with a local Nebraska Agency and my private attorney I chose to back out of my match and to parent my son.
This choice was made before I delivered and this is why I didnt say this when asked earlier because I didnt need the stress of people making vile comments. My choice to place my son was because of the health of my 3 year old which I made so very clear and being a single parent makes it so much harder. From day 1 I loved my son and my plan was to place him until all the stuff on these boards made me second guess my choice.
I sought a therapist with the help of my attorney and my agency and the PAP's that made me realize that we do what it is we have to do to raise our children and to give them the best. I questioned if I really wanted to place my son when I saw some of the most vile and scary people on this site and others mixed in with some of the best, I also found a great confidant in a Adoptive mother from these sites that helped me realize my children would understand the change a new baby would bring.
With my therapist, social workers and attorney it all came to the conclusion I could not live with the choice to place my son and I was doing it for all the wrong reasons. My work was able to adjust my schedule so when I return my son can go with me so I can nurse, I got a FADD's worker into my home who is helping me cope and deal with the struggles of single parenthood and whom has become a great source of strength. My three year old starts preschool with the pushing and urge of her doctors the first week in November.
My daughter Dakota will spend time in mommy and me classes 2 days a week with me for her time. My grandfathers church now takes the girls on sunday to church with him to give me time with the baby. Things are looking up and my heart tells me I can do it. I have decided to become a surrogate to give the joy to other couples that my children give me every day with the blessings of who I now call me team, an awesome attorney, a great therapist, and the best social worker for adoption and parenting there can be.
About my son, London Brody Taylor was born after 39 hours of labor September 30, 2006 .. It was determined my dates were off and he was 5 weeks early he is a beautiful healthy little guy who weighed 6 lbs 6 oz and was 19 inches long. The worst part of it all was I had a csection since my labor stalled at a 7 but it was all worth it.
People ask why I stay on this site, well it is for lessons learned I suppose and there have been a few people that I have become friends with that I am rooting for hoping they become families soon.

Hey Shauna,
Wow you went through a lot but as you said I am sure that your precious baby was worth every minute of labor. I am so happy for you and your decision. The fact that you have gotten so much support is truly a blessing and I pray that your situation continues to impove. That is what adoption is all about- the choice a birthparent has every right to make- to parent - and any self respecting PAP would appreciate your honesty and know that sometimes it just is not meant to be. As a potential adoptive parent I would want our birth family to only place if they were 100% and to tell you the truth we would support that decision without needing an explanation. The fact that you have come to this site to provide your reasoning is remarkable and I truly wish you and your family the best.

Julie,
It was from breathing patterns, skin coating, the hair left on his skin, I suppose there were alot of factors that made them consider him premature although this day and age 5 weeks is really nothing the neonates told me. None the less he was healthy.

| Me check up on things alot of 35 weekers are perfectly heathly at birth, he nurses great goes to the doc every 4 days because he isnt maintaning adequite body weight is in fact down to 4lbs 11oz and if he hasnt began to gain by friday will be admitted in childrens. He also does alot of grunting and gasping common breathing issues but otherwise is perfect just because i dont discuss his health doesnt mean he is without problems. ↑ |

| Me, the Neonatologist said sometimes babies born early dont store body fat like a term newborn does, which I can believe looking at him he has no fat anywhere, he drowns in preemie clothes and preemie pampers for babies to 2.3kg are big on him. Some babies dont gain they say so they admit them to figure out what is wrong but what mom wants her baby poked if it is just taking time to begin to gain, I certainly dont ↑ |

I know she wasn't at the hospital during that time, because that email she quoted from (as if it were her own words) came directly from an email that SHE had recieved.
