I am newly pregnant and due in May of 07.Neither my boyfriend or I feel as though we can care for yet another child.I already have a one year old daughter whom I adopted that is severely disabled.She takes all of my time and is alot of work.I love her so much and wouldn't give her away for the entire world.She will never walk,is in a wheelchair,in and out of the hospital,etc so I am not sure how I would be able to care for her and a new baby,she will be 22 months old when our baby is born.Right now we are not sure what we are doing but wanted to explore all of our options without feeling rushed.
We will be looking for a family in the Mid-west, preferrably a country farming or ranching family.We are looking for an open adoption,preferrably a situation where tha family would consider making us part of extended family.We would love visits, pictures, and an occasional phone call from you.My bf is a true cowboy who loves to ride,listen to country music,go to dances,rodeos,etc. I on the other hand love the country world,music,rodeos,etc.but not to the extent that he does.We are young (20's)and just were not planning on having a baby at this time,we were even using protection because we did not want to unresponsibly bring another child into this world. | my husband and I are looking to adopt a child as I am unable to have any of my own. I am 34 and my husband is 37. I am a country girl as I was mostly raised in the mountains of Penna as my godfather had a farm out there. My husband on the other hand I love to death but is from Phila. but we live in NJ now and have a house on almost a acre of land. We would hope to have the birth family part of the childs life as we would want them to know their backround, maybe even be the childs god-parents. Visits would be great as you would always be welcome to our house as well. the gift that your given to a family pictures and phone calls would be a definate, my parents always did home movies which would be a great idea. Our family is very close as we live all live close by each other. We are big animal lovers as we have 3 cats, and I volunteer at the shelters during the week. My husband is a hardworker as he is a tech at mercedes benz, a jack of all trades, a singer and musican. I am also a musican, painter and I love to draw. We are Carolyn & Lou from beautiful southeastern Colorado! We would love to adopt your precious baby !
We are financially set, own our wonderful 4 bedroom home in a gorgeous area with great schools and parks for the little one to enjoy ! We have beautiful views of the Rocky Mountains from our street all around us ! We have deer, and bunnies on our property every day ! We are surrounded by ranches within blocks of our home.
We recently adopted our baby son Andrew from Texas. We have an open adoption with Andrew's birthparents, and would love to have an open adoption with you as well !
My husband is a pilot for a major airline, so the baby will travel the world, and we certainly could visit if you like ! We could send pictures and call as frequently as you like. I am wondering how many of you are only interested in adopting a healthy caucasian infant?What if this child is born with some kind of birth defect,such as my daughter?Are we going to be left high and dry with no other option such as my daughter's birth parents were?And my daughter is by no means mentally disabled,just has physical,orthopedic issues,however nobody wanted her because of it.This is just a thought I have and would like to know how everyone would feel about a child with special needs,and where you would draw the line.I do not smoke (never have),no birth defects run in my family,and I very rarely drink,and then it has only ever been a few drinks from my bf's mixed drink,and I won't be doing that anymore either.I eat relatively healthy and am doing everything "just right" but you never know what the final outcome will be.

Carolyn,We come to Denver almost every week to take my daughter to the Children's Hospital.I also had custody of a little boy for 18 months whose brother lives in Parker.
As you can tell,I have been involved in the adoption world for about 5 years and I never thought this day would come.I always planned on adopting a special needs child and not having my own....I did not feel as though this world needed one extra child added to it when I could be helping a child who really needed me.....My parents do not know anything about this as of right now (neither his) and I do not know if and when I will tell them,they will be as mad as hell because we are both from a very religious background where you do not have sex before marriage.So this is a very tough decision for us.Abortion has been considered but I cannot go through with it. ↑ |

HI ! I used to work in Corporate Sales in Denver, close to Children's hospital, but resigned to become a stay at home mom to Andrew; we are very fortunate that Lou's position as a pilot allows us a good salary and that I can be home with him and any other little one we are blessed with !

Hi There Question,
My son is a little over 5 months. So he would be a little over a year when your baby would be born. A great age difference I think. I know it seems close, but my sister and I are just a little over a year apart too . We very much want our children to be close in age.
I understand your question and concern very much, so let me give you a little background about our situation. We are open to any race and special needs of a child. We adopted our son from Utah with the understanding he may have special needs. His mom was a heroine addict and stopped using shortly before she became pregnant with him, but was put on a drug called methadone to help with withdrawal symptoms. The agency couldn't find any families that would adopt him because of this. But we wanted a child and a family and were willing to take on any of the challenges we might face to have this child in our lives if his birth family were to choose us. Thank god they did. Luckily Brady is very healthy, but I guess the point is when you decide to become a parent whether through giving birth or through adoption I think you have to make the decision to love and care for that child no matter what the circumstances. Please let us know if you have any other questions. We truly believe openess and honesty is the only way to go and we would love to share more details with you.
Also we are very close to Wyoming ,less than an hour from the border, so we could visit often. Take care.
