I have legal guardianship of a child that we did privately between us and filed it with the courts so we would have time to look into the whole process of adopting this wonderful blessing i just now dont know what steps to take first to start the adoption process any help would be great!

Raven,

What is the status of your homestudy ?

How do you have legal guardianship and not know the answer ?

Are you a relative to the child ?

Ask whoever did your home study and or an adoption attorney and or an adoption agency. Else call your local courts where you filed and state what you just stated here see if they can offer further assistance.

If the child is a kin-adoption you may not need a homestudy. But contact your attorney for the next step. Some people do the thing where the mother and father have deserted the child and the adotion gets stalled for awhile. It really depends on your state and the laws there.

Your info sounds so familiar, I went thru the same exact thing, and your name is ironic, we chose that for our baby girl.
