My son is now 4 years old and he just started kindergarten 4 months ago. Before I never took him out so much or even social coz I dunno anybody and my third language is not so good. I am asian but lives in Europe country. And before my son was really extremely playful, not patient at all, hyperactive, dont afraid of danger and dun listen much. So that was also the reason I didnt take him along with me when I was going outside coz I really cant manage. Before I never known about Austism and I thought its about something esle so I didnt read much about it. Until Ive found the website and then now I think I know more aobut what is Autistic. The question I want to ask coz I took him to doctor here but still not diagnose yet if he an autistic or not . The doctor said he cant say it now . Might have to wait for the next 6 months to see if he improved his behavior or not. Since he went to kindergarten he is getting better. But his emotion is sometimes really bad I really dun understand him.
My son he can speak but not so good...he dont know how to explain or describe the story yet (he just started german 4 months ago , normally we speak english with him and now he speak german at kindergarten and with his father and english with me) he can ask What is that? in german and whats happend? when i asked him he can answer really shot ..not so long..and the grammar was not right...sometimes he talk like blablabla(babble) i really dun understand it and somebody else either......but he can answer many things but short sentence.
He is very difficult to potty train.
He like to counting number...when he walked pass every house he like to read the house number . he can count over 100. good about number, coulor, shape, play computer, puzzle..really quick to remember and learn. but he dun speak good enough to communicate with friends but he go to friends and play.
when he cried he like to blablabla and take long time until stop.
he reall y dun listen much when i told him to do that or this.
right now very difficult about taking shower. if he dun want to do...its really hard to convince him. i do force him many time and i was really mad.
he like to say the same word everytime until u follow what he said then he will stop like talking too much bla bla bla
he crazy about train....he love Thomas and his friends story . he got so maný toy train.......
his eye contacted seems okay with us.......we asked he answered but if somebody else asked sometimes he didnt answer.......
is he an autistic? I really afraid to hear the answer. And when i read so much it makes me think too much before I never noticed about this to my child but now since I read so much I suspect and I cry so many times I am so tired when I have to handle him coz I have another little girl 8 months to take care and she also need me.......Now I need advise.......does anybody got the child same as my son's symptom?
PS. sorry if this too long......i am looking forward to hear the advise ↓

I hope you read this supermummy as I notice no one ele has posted you a reply yet. I think you should see a second paediatrician or if you feel (and I think you do) he has autism a psychiatrist who could diagnose this. Autism is a spectcrum which is like saying there is a range of quite severe to more mildly affected. At 4 years old you really don't want to be waiting too long so you can get help for your son, there is no way I would wait another 6 months.
His hating showers might be a sensory issue, where he can't stand the feel of water on his head or face- may be a bath might be easier for him to tolerate.
When you describe your son he sounds just like my little boy. Please remember he is still your beautiful little boy and if he is diagnosed with autism that doesn't change who he is. ↑ |
| hi my son jack who is 7 now had most of the same problems as your child all children with autisum like thomas the tank engine any way i knew like you my son was autistc but getting a diagnosis was awlfull when jack was three he could not talk he grunted and pointed the pediatrician said moderate global deveamental delay i still had to fight for the diagnosiss of autisum and when jack was5 he got it it took all that time it is streesfull try and find a support group in your area they put on activities on just for autistic kids you can still go even if you have no diagnosis they have loads of info fof you to and can help you love tina ↑ |
Thanks both of you very much. I really apppreciate for what you both have been reply to my forum. First I havent seen any reply here so I thought maybe nobody could write anything so I didnt come here for checking but now I come back again.
Anyway, Do both of you mind to tell me what kind of Autism you kids have been diagnosed? Are they an asperger? somebody told me my son just sounds like that but I am not so sure. He is better now since he went to kindergarten. He has been improved in many ways but some (bad) emotions he is still having.
Anyway, If you got free time or come back here to check again please reply my question. Thank you in advance. ↑ |
| Dear Supermommy, no I don't mind your questions. My son and Daughter both have autism. At 3 years old I was told my son had aspergers by a paieiatrician but he turned out to be more affected than that. He is now 6 and goes to a primary school in Australia for children with autism. He can read write alittle( his handwritting is terrible) but can type words, loves spelling and playing educational games on the computer. He does have speech but not like a normal 6 year old. His speech is rapidly improving. We think he might be high functioning. My little girl seemed fine for years and then changed at nearly 3 years old. She stopped making eye contact, started lining toys up, lost speech, and lost social skills. She is only just started to use words again a little and uses PECS - a picture exchange system to tell us what she wants and I show her pictures to let her Know what we are going to do. If you are looking for a good site to talk to parents of children with autism and aspergers I recommend http://groups.msn.com/AUTISMCHATANDSHARE They are very helpful there and supportive of each other and share a lot of ideas that have worked for them Sometimes even Adults with autism join. They also have a live chat room or you can post a message. I am happy to chat to you here on Babycrowd if you like . You will certainly have no trouble getting a reply. I think it can be very hard to get a diagnosis and if you feel sure something is not right get a second even a third opinion if that's what it takes. ↑ |
Thank you so much for ýour kindness reply, OnlineDizzy..you are so nice.
Well, Last time my son got an EEG Brain scan and the result is his brain developing so good and the doctor said its bettr than normal and he got no brain problem or anything relating from brain to speech. I am so glad. At least he has no brain problem or thing that I have been worried about. So the doctor said he will test him again in September and then we will know for sure if he is an autistic or not........I am just praying that the answer is No he is not........I hope.........
Also last week we went to the doctor for speech therapy she said that my son seems better than the first time she met him. About speaking he can speak more words, long sentences and like to asking questions. He can also tell story a little bit from school but not so much......but he impoving so far even the doctor tell so. I just hope everything will be fine and no matter what i am still worring.....u know as a mom..........anyway, thanx a lot for u information and the website..I will look and maybe we can chat sometimes here.......
Thanks a lot.......from my heart............ ↑ |
| Dear supermummy, well those are all good signs. I am glad that your son's speech is progressing.September is not very far away now and I will keep my fingers crossed for you and your child that all is well. I think the speech therapy is very valuable and the best thing you can do right now for your child regardless of the outcome of tests. Take care. I think he is a lucky little by to have you ashis mummy. ↑ |

My son he speak better than before but still cant tell a long story. Sometimes he like to say what he interested in or repeat the words. What should I do about this? Did your son addicted something too? my son he loves train ...but it doesnt mean he didnt play with something else but Train is his favourite...I really dunno why....Does Anybody has the opinion that should I make him interested in something else instead of train or should not............or let him play becoz sometimes i dont want him to addict too much about train.........any advices? ↑ |
Jack's story....
After the 12 mos. vaccines my son gradually slipped into autism. He was head-banging, hand-flapping, twirling, lost speech, lost eye contact and he just withdrew.
Now two years later.... no head-banging, no twirling, no flapping, has eye contact and is starting to verbalize again. And... he has Down Syndrome to boot. :) Yes... even kids with DS get autism. Actually they get it at a higher rate.
What helped him? First I give God praise.... our son wouldn't be here without Him and we prayed and I believe He guided us. Second... supplements. Especially cod liver oil. I recommend Green Pastures CLO with the X factor. Check out Dr. Mary Megson's work on the web. http://www.diet-studies.com/megson.html Our Jack healed gradually... but he is healing. I actually had to make myself GET USED TO him not twirling everything any more!
Also check out Dr. Amy Yasko's work. www.holistichealth.com
We give Jack alot of supps - cod liver oil, probiotic, magnesium citrate, tart cherry and recently we added cilantro. He takes some other things too but each child is unique. It helps to find a good naturopathic MD or chiropractor. Don't use supps until you research things for yourself. Cilantro for example...should possibly not be used until some other detox has been done.
Don't give up. There is hope! And... I will be frank here.... many mainstream doctors know squat about how to heal autism. Don't let that throw you. There are people who do know how to help. God bless you! Love, Jack's Mom :) goodplans4you@yahoo.com ↑ |
