Hello. We are dealing with a 9 year old autistic child who is very aggressive towards others, etc. He has injured myself, my wife, etc. I'm also going to be losing my job soon. Here is what we are thinking...being that I would have all this time on my hands, and we know he will end up in a group home someday (tough decision) - we are thinking of creating a group home / special needs safe haven for kids to go to. If you could pick 1 thing as a parent with an autistic child that you wish you could have - would it be - time with other kids and have your autistic child in a safe enviroment for a few hours at night? I'm thinking of creating a ranch type of group home setting, perhaps maybe a play area round a group home and playgym inside of it along with having it be a place that when a child "blows up" and attacks others, or there is a safety emergency your child can go here where staff would be available and watch him/her. WHat would be your biggest dreams? I'm trying to create something that would help lots of people in our area. I feel compelled to do this as I will have time soon and want to see something for our son and others we know of so others in the future can be helped. What are your thoughts? THanks ↓
