Hi, I just registered so I can talk with other moms in my boat. I have a 3 yr. old son with PDDNOS. He got his diagnosis just after his 2nd b-day but began receiving early intervention pretty early on. I would love to talk with other moms, seems as though you learn the most from other families. Please e-mail me at christinakeene@sbcglobal.net.

Hello, this is my first time visiting a chat room. I too have a 3 year old son who was just recently diagnosed with PDD NOS. I need other parents to talk to for advise. It seems as though my biggest struggle right now is public outings with my son. People glare at us constantly and make negative remarks. I get so angry, frustrated, and saddened by their reactions. I want to get a T-Shirt for my son that says "I am not a brat... I am autistic." But should I constantly have to explain his diagnosis to others?? Please e-mail me at: pinkchairhair@hotmail.com.

Hello. I am the mum of three children. My middle child and only daughter has multiple disabilities. She has also been put on the autistic spectrum. She is now almost 14 and her behavior is becoming almost impossible to manage. She is increasingly aggressive, biting, throwing, name calling and very defiant. She tells us that she wouldn't get so angry if we just did things her way. Has anyone any advise on how to tackle this. We have tried the rewarding, ignoring, explaining, hibernating and of course tearing our hair out approaches but have had no success at all.

Hi. My name is Sharleen and I just wanted to let you know that my best friend is the mother of autistic twins (5 years old). And she tried a product called 4Life Transfer Factor that is supposed to boost the immune system (as I'm sure you know autism is an autoimmune disorder not a mental handicap) and the products are working well for her children. She's seen a significant improvemen in their cognative abilities, concentration and even speach. Just wanted to throw that out there because although I dont have autistic children, I know that if someone knew of something that I could try to help me, I would appreciate it. Let me know if you'd like more information on it.

are your children on any treatment? chelation? vitamen supplements? I've done a ton of research on autism and have a suggestion that has worked wonders for my best friends autistic twins.

hi, i am new to these. i have a three and a half year old son who was also born three months early and was tiny as well, and he was also a twin. He is getting evaluated in Nov. by the Weiskopf center for autism. He doesn't yet talk, and he has passed all his hearing screenings. He is easily upset and has meltdowns for no reason at all.. And he refuses to use the potty. We sit him on there and he screams and he also hates change. I would love other parents to talk to. Does it sound like autism and what can i expect. I love him so much but it gets hard. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks. You can reach me at KrissieHoward@live.com.Thanks

I am going to be 46 years old, and my youngest child (second born of twins) was diagnosed with Autism when he was 14 months old. I have three other children: Melissa 14, Stephen 8, and then Trevor & Cullen are my twin boys who will be 7 in February. Unfortunately, I started having children later in life, not by my choice. If it wasn't for the in-home nurse than came to the house to check on the boys and I after they were born, I probably woudn't have noticed Cullen not progressing as well as his twin brother. I still think that how he was born had something to do with his diagnosis, but it doesn't make any difference when it comes to what his treatment would be. He has had early intervention, but some services are hard to get where we live.
I've felt very much alone in emotional support, and those that have been with me since the beginning, have left, and there I am again, having to describe my life to a new person. It's hard to want the best for your child, knowing that he's already facing the world at a disadvantage. I would love to get in touch with others for any kind of support.
Thanks for this opportunity to reach out to someone.

For Ryansmom- My seven year old son with Autism has been on the GFCF diet now for three years- along with his now 5 year old sister and me (43 year old mom-I can't believe I just told you my age!) We have had great results with the diet for all three of us- for my son's behavior, his sister's chronic skin rash (now 25% of what it was) and my irritable bowel syndrome. As a plus, my children and I eat more healthy foods, and a larger variety of foods now than we ever would have (and most other American children I know.) And yes, we can go out to eat, celebrate holidays, etc. Just fine. A great resource for the GFCF diet is the TACANow website, which has 10 weeks to a gfcf diet, lists of hidden gluten, etc. I would be happy to give support, suggestions, etc. gregor-maxwell@att.net

Hi!!!, Iīm a mom of a 5 year old beautiful boy with autistic characteristics. Heīs been in speech therapy for 2 years and has come a long way, but he still hasnīt been diagnosed. We have an appointment with a neurologyst in a couple of days. My questions for anyone who can answer is: what can I expect from this visit? what kind of tests they might do to him? what kind of information will the test reveal?. Some people tell me that the only thing they might find is a certain degree of brain damage, but if this is true, how can this be related with autism or other disorders?. Thanks for your help. iniguezmartinez@hotmail.com

Hello ALi
I know it is hard and even though my family say I have their support, nobody ever calls, and the support here in Spain is very lacking almost nil, so I know where you are coming from. I hope that I can help you someway as I know that it is a very difficult time but I have got through this with only my husband and my mum who does not live here and managed.

Janine, my name is Jennifer and I am new at this autistic parenting too. I have a 13 month old that does everything right for his peds but at home he shows many signs of autism. No pointing, waving or clapping and no words yet but it seems that the doc thinks that he is fine..By the way my son makes great eye contact with strangers but veryu rarely with me. If only someone could tell me some way to make his pediatrician see what I see so I could get something rolling
