Hi everyone I am 23 and pregnant with my first baby and I pray that my child will not have to suffer from autism...I have a nine year old brother who has it and it is sooo heartbreaking because deep down in his own ways he is a genius..I just feel so bad for him cause I know he gets frustrated when trying to get us to understand something that he wants....but every step towards progress he makes we greatly are thankful for....this past school year I think he really has improved..I know that his conditions could probably be worse off then they are... he isn't totally non-verbal we are starting to understand each other a little bit so every sentence that we share with each other is truely cherished...I hate seeing this many people in this room are living with it in their families too but at the same time it is nice to have a crowd of people to offer each other support. ↑

Hi,
I have an Autistice daughter who has just turned 4 years old. We first noticed that she did not speak at about a year of age and were referred to a speech pathologist. From that point our child was in the early intervention sy stem and is now currently in a D.O.E. preschool with a speech therapist, skills trainer, IISC, and O.T. Please Email me at bpignolet1@msn.com for any information on Autism Spectrum Disorder etc. ↑ |

I have a 13 year old daughter who is high functioning autistic. She has been struggling alot lately with anxieties and depression. Was wondering if anyone else had been through this with their child. ↑
In response to Jose...while your story breaks my heart, i am inclined to say...stop searching. My daughter is just about 3 1/2 and just now started speaking single words, although they dont make sense to most people. In life, things happen, for whatever the reason, and we cant always change or prevent them from happening. Lonlieness can be tough on anyone even people who have "normal" children. Sometimes, coupled individuals can be lonely too. I am not Christian, but I have faith. I have faith that you will find someone who will love and accept you and your child, or rather, she will find you. For now, your child should come first. Austic or not, our children are or should be the most important people around us. Even a child who can not speak, or show outward affection, my be able to feel it just the same, or even more. I dont think we will ever know for sure. I do know this, my little girl knows when Im sad or depressed, or angry. My little girl seems to come to me with the slightest of hand when I need it most. She may not be able to say "I love you mommy" but when she pats my head, or sits close to me, or the( few and far between )times when she looks for a kiss or a hug prooves to me that she can feel, even without the expression "normal" people need to see. You will find happiness, I am sure of this. It will come when you least expect it, and when you need it the most. For now, look to your child, to yourself , or to others out there who are willing to listen, but don't expect a romantic relationship in return. Most single mothers put all of thier energy into their children, I know I do, and sometimes just to have someone who is willing to listen is enough to get you through until the "real deal" shows up in your life. I hope this doesnt sound judgemental, I dont mean it to be. I just read your posting and it tugged at my heart. I wish you luck, and all the best in life. I'm here to share an ear to anyone, as I have borrrowed many ears a time or two, and I always "pay it foward" ↑

Hi Donna,I have a 6 year old son who has autism. We found out when he was 2.5 yrs old. It has been very hard to deal with. He is super active and can be very loud at times, especially in public. He is verbal and smart, but needs the right teachers to help him.He has all the typical signs of autism.Hand flapping, vocal noises, repeating things he hears, unaware of danger, and he didn't start talking until he was4 yrs old.His name is Ryan, by the way.He is big for his age and can be aggressive at times. Usually when other children get too close to him. He has an older brother who is 8 yrs old. They get along but fight alot (typical).Sometimes his brother acts like ryan to get attention. If you would like to email me its-donna@pstel.net ↑
