I'm basically one of those mums that doesn't really know the other mums. I just vaugley recognise them, but don't talk much. My twins get invited to all the other childrens parties and generally we go, but i always feel awkward because I don't know the other mums and they all know each other.
But now it's my turn! I should probably mention the type of nursery they go to most of the parents are older, I'm 25 and the average age is about 35. Which is quite intimidating, but there you have it. I want to make the party special so they have a nice day, but I can't really compete with the others as they are the sort of ideal mothers who do all the baking, getting the kids involved, make fun games and have hand made decorations. It sort of has felt like a competition at the other kids parties as I've heard people make bitchy remarks like "blue icing? what was she thinking?" or "have you seen the banner?" and I just don't know what to do!!!!
My daughter wants a disney princess tea party, and we have to incorporate spider man into that for my son. (they are turning 3) so has anyone got any ideas to get around this issue without making a huge embarassment of myself?
