my baby is 2 days shy of turning 3 weeks old. ive been breastfeeding her mostly and using formula maybe 2-3 times a week. My dr. said she was gonna put me on the mini pill while i was still breastfeeding. I want to know, have any of you girls been on that pill and how was it? it has to be taken at the same time every day or you could get pregnant....that scares me cause im horrible with pills.
What other options is there? i dont trust the shots or the nuva ring. What did you guys use as birth control while you breastfed?
?

I am horrible at taking pills as well so I really can't take BCP. I always missed at least 2 a month rendering them ineffective. No matter what I would always forget, what a ding dong I am. I have used 2 methods abstence & condoms, both work very well. I have a hard time trusting the new birth controls because so many have come out to be not the best so I stick with the tride and true. Good Luck.

im with you mamal...i dont trust anything. i used to take some pills from mexico that cost about $8 a pack and they worked great...no side effects, they didnt have to be at the same exact time and they were cheap. best of all, i didnt get pregnant, lol. I would go back to them but i dont think they're safe while im breastfeeding, and i really dont want to stop just because of birth control.
Your're right, there are so many things out there that are supposedely 99.99% effective and i know of way too many people that have fallen pregnant on the IUD even. Absitence is out of the question, hehe, and condoms, well we just dont like em. = )

I just try and plan when we do "it" around my cycle. Although we're no longer concerned if we do become pregnant again now, since my daughter is a little older now.

I would NOT use the mini pill while breast feeding - not because it is not safe - it is, but the mini pill is still a combined estrogen and progesterone pill. It will still negatively affect your milk supply (albeit maybe less than the regular one). Using a pill that is only progesterone (i.e. MicroNor or something similar) will not affect your supply. As it is if you breast feed exclusively (no formula), and your periods haven't returned you are pretty safe for 5 months or so (NOT 100%). To regain your full milk supply at this point (you are not giving much formula at all) simply stop the formula, your breasts will start making more, and you can alway pump ahead or later if you need a break. Otherwise you could use an IUD or a barrier method. Best of luck

Thank you everyone for your input.
I decided to use the shot instead and so far so good. The only bad thing about it is that it can cause weight gain, so i'll have to watch what i eat...also it decreases bone mass if taken for too long, so i'll probably change to something else in the future. I dont want any more kids for now.

i would suggest the IUD. aka morena. they put it in your uterus and you wont have a baby for 5 years and if you choose to have a baby sooner they will take it out for you. my sister has it and she said it doesnt bother her or anything. im thinkin about getting it after my baby arrives!
