OKay, so the last few days I've had some cramping and shortness of breath. It was getting pretty bad, so I had John take me to the ER tonight...
Well, fortunately, Floyd Memorial takes a sick pregnant woman A LOT more seriously than Harrison County does.
It took 15 minutes to get a room from the time we walked in the building...and that's just because we had to check in and wait on our insurance info to work :)
Once we got in the room, they had me change into a gown, and then we waited about 5 minutes for my doctor to come back. He felt my stomach, listened to me breathe and all that other good junk. Said he was gonna run some tests, give me some fluids, etc. He was worried because my blood pressure was pretty high when I checked in, and kept asking me if I had high blood pressure. I kept telling him no, that my pressure has always been almost perfect. So he was afraid of pre-eclampsia showing up already :(
He left...a few minutes later a nurse came in and ran an EKG to check my heart out....she was pushing her cart out and almost ran into the next nurse coming in. She brought in a portable X-Ray machine, and took an x-ray of my chest to check for blood clots. Then the next nurse came in right behind her and drew blood, then another came in to start my IV. My blood pressure was down a little by that, so they took down the bag they had up at first, because it had contained magnesium to lower my blood pressure, and gave me just a plain bag of saline.
After all the tests were run, they moved me over to the ER's ICU, right in front of the nurses' desk so they could monitor my heart rate and blood pressure. They kept the heart monitor pads, plus that finger thing on me for almost 2 hours, while I was getting my IVs done. My blood pressure was checked every 10 minutes...it was finally down to 132/61 at 330, so they let me come home. He said the top number was still high, but the low number was enough to satisfy him for now, and that I just have to check up with the OB in the next 48 hours....so I guess I'll go see Dr Sauer on Friday :)
No ultrasound tonight, but we're hoping now, because of the difficulties, he'll wanna check up on our peanut :)
