I'm 20 weeks pregnant & have a question about my uterus. When I went for my 17 week appt, they told me my uterus was already above my belly button, which usually doesn't happen until after 20 weeks. She said she knew I wasn't really 20 weeks, though, because my belly button hadn't popped out yet. Plus, we did an ultrasound at 9 weeks that showed we were correct on what week we thought we were on-- and it only showed one baby. I've grown very fast & look very pregnant, so I've had people ask me about twins. I don't see how we could have missed it, but have any of you experienced this? Also, have any of you had a high uterus? I'm wondering if they will change my due date if it stays that far ahead. Or if maybe it means we'll have a big baby. The midwife said it's that high, because I'm so small & have little space between my pelvis & belly button. I'm only about 5'1". Please let me know if any of you have experienced this or know of anyone that has! Thanks!

first of all, you dont have to be 20 weeks for your belly button to pop out...im small as hell and i am 20 weeks. well, is this your first child? when people have already had a child, their 2nd pregnancy expands because the skin has already went through it, so its used to it. maybe ya'll will have a big baby, and the sonogram should tellyou exactly how far along you are and all that other stuff. i dont think you should worry about it, are you having a girl? sometimes the sex also depends on where the baby lays. im also 5'1'' but i think your fine.

No, this is my first pregnancy. I've grown very fast, but like I said, we only saw 1 baby in the first ultrasound. So you aren't that big?? I don't know what we're having yet- we don't get another ultrasound until 28 weeks. I've never heard that about them laying differently! Ours moves around all the time & is very active. I've been feeling movement for a few weeks & whenever anyone tries to find the hearbeat, he/she moves all around! The heart rate has been in the high 150's & low 160's.

I think you moght be having a girl cause your so high im so low and were having a boy and the babys heart rate looks like your having a boy that stinks that you have to wait that long for an ultra sound i think thats stupid i had my ultra sound at 18 weeks to find out the babys sex and the first one to find out how far along i was at 13 weeks .. why 13 weeks you ask because i didnt know i was pregnant till i was 12 weeks..

Women carry their children differently. It all depends on how your body is built. Some women carry low because their uterus sits lower, some carry high because their uterus normally sits higher. I am carrying high with my second child, which is a boy. I also carried high with my daughter (my first child). Truth is, it has nothing to do with whether the child is a boy or a girl, it depends on your body. The high low myth is just that... a myth.

I think it also depends on if you have a shorter torso since your shorter it seems that could be it. I'm 5'5, 22 weeks and very thin (showing but just started) and I'm at where I should be so don't worry about it.

I'm at 20 weeks right now and my uterus is also way above my bellybutton. I didn't ask my doctor if that was normal or not, but if it wasn't I think they would have said something. Plus the last time they measured my uterus was last week and my uterus measured 19, which was right where it should be. I guess it's just how you're built.

I am 37 weeks and have no idea where my uterus is!
