did anyone breathe Nitrous Oxide while they were in labor? i have no idea if my hospital even lets you do it, but i am really interesting in seeing if i can breathe some while i am in labor. ive found that when i get cavities filled at the dentist it really relaxes me.

It wasn't offered to me in our local hospital--the softest pain-relief I was ofered was 'Nubaine' a one shot deal in the thigh that would last about 15 mins. Although I have heard of the gas, my Mum had it and she swore by it. (the baby she had with the gas--my older bro--is a PHD at 28!! No side affects I guess!

I liked the gas! Except you have to start sucking it before your contraction starts, i found by the time i started sucking and it started working, my contraction was over, so here i was in no pain but in lala land!! It was great though.. that was with Couper(hes 4 days old) with my first born i sucked the gas constantly and just felt so out of it the whole time, he was posteria to so it was very painfull, I end up having a c cec with him and dont remeber much of the last 5 hours of labour from the gas...

I am not sure that they ofer this in the US. I mean they have it at dentist offices, but I have not heard ot it being used during labor here. I think the most mild form of pain releaf is nubaine via your IV
