A normal pregnancy may have low hCG levels and result in a perfectly healthy baby.
However, a low hCG level can mean any number of things and should be rechecked within 48-72 hours to see how the level is changing. A low hCG level could indicate:
1. Miscalculation of pregnancy dating
2. Possible miscarriage or blighted ovum
3. Ectopic pregnancy
If I were you, I'd demand an ultrasound to make sure the pregnancy isn't ectopic, and that your baby is developing normally. ↑ |
first demand and US to see the heart rate. I had low hcg levels infact they began to drop instead of rise. I had to go to the hospital and they wanted to do and D&C because they said the baby was no longer alive. They had done an US and saw only a sac no baby or fetal pole. I said no to the D&C and decided to miscarry naturally. this was on a thursday night. I was discharged from the hospital on saturday with my levels still dropping when they should have doubled. Monday I had a second US in my dr office and there big and plain as day was my baby with a perfectly strong heart beat. She is 10 months old now and has never had a problem and is in perfect health......well except the cold she has :)
I am not trying to get your hopes too high it is jsut better to be safe then sorry.
best wishes to you. ↑ |
have it checked a few days later like jill, hope it goes good!
ps: jill...that is one messed up story, if it was me i'd have killed the people at the hospital, or when my baby was born, take it to the medical director or something and tell him that just a few months ago they tried to remove her, because they didnt "see" her alive in your tummy...and strangely she is now (sarcasticly).
my husband said: makes him think of how many other "babies" they have already killed unnessicarily, right??
i'd be scared of that hospital and not go back!
good call tho about not having the D&C. ↑ |
| JillW. OK....I was so happy to see your post. I am very early pregnancy, and 46 yrs. so....my hcg beta will be checked often. Monday it was 213 and today 125. My doctors office is closed today, and every where I read this number should double. I am freaking out! I realize I have a very high chance of miscarriage, but thanks to your note, I will do it naturally if it is to be. Thanks. Becky ↑ |
I'm 7 weeks tomorrow and at 6 weeks I had a beta test because I had light bleeding off and on for a week. The 1st result was normal at 14900, but the second, taken about 48 hours later, was only 15900. Still have slight bleeding but very very little, and I've only had 1 cramp for about a minute. My midwife says I can either wait and see or go in for an ultrasound to see what they find. I'm not going to have a D&C unless I have began passing the fetus and develop a fever or infection.
What do you think of the slight rise? Is it so slight that I should just wait for the miscarriage or try for the ultrasound? ↑ |
