Okay so I started to take my iron pills again today b.c i was told they shouldnt be causing me to throw up or be dizzy or have severe migraines. so i took it about an hour and a half ago, thinking yeh i really need to, ill just go straight to bed. well i started yelling/moaning b.c my head was hurting soo bad lights off everything, but i laid there anyways, started to fall asleep and rolled over and started to puke a little bit and had to get up and run to the bathroom, where i puked everything in my stomach up and pissed all over the floor. okay i am done bitching now. goodnight.

its alright. Im just so mad at myself and my body. not only am i depriving my kid b.c my body hates iron, but I more than likely am not gonna be able to go to the states and Im gonna have to have the Turks deliver my baby. which on its own pisses me off after dealing with my turkish doctor on base. and yes i know american doctors are just as big of idiots. but its like my body is fucking broken. it doesnt want to do anything right. ive been sick this entire fucking pregnancy and now thats gonna ruin the chances i have of being able to see my ma. gah i know im just complaining, but i cant help but sit here and cry and think how much i hate myself right now. its my fault

the only way I can take them is with lots of food, but maybe you should eat high iron foods aswell.
meat
eggs
grains-wheat,cereal
dried fruit-peaches,figs,dates,rasins
nuts and peanut butter
leafy vegs-spinach,brocoli

Try those instead coart, try having a handful of almonds everyday instead of the iron pills.

yeah i was planning on doing that tonight, i looked up how to eat heme and non heme iron foods, how vitamin c helps them absorb blah blah .. so in the morning after my doctor appt i had planned on going to the grocery store and buying some things, mostly what u just said but im hoping those things help it. i noticed tonight though after eating steak broccoli and rice that my head started hurting a little but it went away after walking around the track with scott, but then i came home and ate a bowl of oatmeal and took the iron pill with some juicy juice and within 30-45 mins my head was just ow and i was not doing too good. yerp .. and i asked about the dissolving tabs or whatever for under the tongue and she said "ive never heard of such a thing just take these i dont think its them causing you problems" but yet when i stop taking them i feel great and when i take them i start puking again . gah

I know I wont be taking the prenatel vitiams after the baby is born, its to much work to take them and then eat a big meal etc, just so I wont feel like crap.
I had a huge breakfeast today and 1hr later I felt like crap from them, almost like I was going to puke too.
But I try and have oatmeal everyday and almonds too.

i havent taken prenatals since i started getting really bad with vomiting at about 10 weeks.. i take chewy gummy kids vitamins every so often but there is no iron in them.

coartney,
i know how you feel, i went through the same thing when i was pregnant with my son. my pre-natal pills that my dr. gave me made me sick so bad. he then gave me some without the iron in them, and i was okay after that. all my iron test came out really low, and he had to put me on more pills to supplement the iron which made me sick all over again. it really sucked

OMG coart there has to be a different type of pill they can try. Honestly it is not like you are making up your damn symptoms! I am hating you doctors sooo much right now. they need to adjust the dose or method or something.

I had the same thing happen to me when I started taking iron pills because I was (probably still am) anemic during my pregnancy. And it never failed. Every single time I took them I became sick to my stomach and had a headache.

i suggested the dissolving ones, she said she had never heard of such a thing. so ive stopped taking them and im just gonna supplement them with iron rich foods, like connie had suggested. surprisingly its not all that hard. and i was told i could eat the snickers marathon bars b.c they have 35% iron, so i figure eat those, and then total raisin bran cereal has 100% iron. so its pretty simple. thank jebus.

Is it possible for you to get the shot instead of the pills?

Name: Coartney | Date: Feb 14th, 2007 2:55 AM
didnt know there was a shot, i was told these time release iron tablets were my only choice that she never heard of any other way, so I told them I wasnt taking them anymore.

Well i was severly enemic before i was pregnant...and i couldnt take the pills they made me nausous..so they gave me the option of the shot once a month, in the butt/thigh. And i didnt have any side effects like i did with the pills.

But thats in Australia, you might be limited to options there

take a look at www.spatone.com

It's a natural iron supplement which doesn't have the usual side effects that iron pills have.
