Just a little insight on your lovely PETA. A 19th-Century British politician named William Gladstone is best known for remarking that "justice delayed is justice denied." Gladstone would have been mightily annoyed with the Hertford County, North Carolina Superior Court. The November 13, 2006 trial of two People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) employees (scheduled for November 13, 2006) has been delayed for the seventh time. The defendants, Andrew Benjamin Cook and Adria Joy Hinkle, are charged with 22 counts of Cruelty to Animals and 3 counts of Obtaining Property By False Pretenses. According to sources in the Hertford County criminal justice system, the trial will not begin until at least January 2007. Other trial dates for the "PETA2 Two" have included July 19, 2005; August 16, 2005; September 13, 2005; October 14, 2005; November 18, 2005; and May 29, 2006. Police in Ahoskie, North Carolina arrested Cook and Hinkle on June 15, 2005 near a shopping-center dumpster, from which they recovered 18 dead pets in trash bags. Thirteen additional dead animals were recovered from the PETA-owned van in which they were traveling. Witnesses from the Bertie County (NC) Animal Shelter and the Ahoskie Animal Hospital later confirmed that the two PETA employees had collected animals earlier that day -- including puppies and kittens -- on the promise that PETA would find them adoptive homes. Hinkle will be represented by Washington, DC white-collar criminal lawyer Blair Brown and local attorney Jack Warmack. Cook's lawyer is North Carolina litigator Mark Edwards. District Attorney Valerie Asbell will try the case. Both defendant's legal bills are reportedly being paid by PETA. Government records from the Virginia State Veterinarian show that in 2005, PETA killed 90 percent of the animals it took in for adoption. Since 1998, the group has put over 14,400 dogs and cats to death. PETA activists regularly target children as young as six years old with anti-meat and anti-milk propaganda, often waiting outside their schools to intercept them as they walk to and from class-without notifying parents. One piece of kid-targeted PETA literature tells small children: “Your Mommy Kills Animals!” PETA brags that its messages reach over 2 million children every year, including thousands reached by e-mail without the permission of their parents. One PETA vice president told the Fox News Channel’s audience: “Our campaigns are always geared towards children, and they always will be.” PETA runs campaigns seemingly calculated to offend religious believers. One entire PETA website is devoted to the claim-despite ample evidence to the contrary-that Jesus Christ was a vegetarian. PETA holds protests at houses of worship, even suing one church that tried to protect its members from Sunday-morning harassment. Its billboards taunt Christians with the message that hogs “died for their sins.” PETA insists, contrary to centuries of rabbinical teaching, that the Jewish ritual of kosher slaughter shouldn't be allowed. And its infamous “Holocaust on Your Plate” campaign crassly compares the Jewish victims of Nazi genocide with farm animals. PETA raked in nearly $29 million last year in income, much of it raised from pet owners who think their donations actually help animals. Instead, the group spends huge sums on programs equating people who eat chicken with Nazis, scaring young children away from drinking milk, recruiting children into the radical animal-rights lifestyle, and intimidating businessmen and their families in their own neighborhoods. PETA has also spent tens of thousands of dollars defending arsonists and other violent extremists. PETA claims it engages in outrageous media-seeking stunts "for the animals." But which animals? Carping about the value of future two-piece dinners while administering lethal injections to puppies and kittens isn't ethical. It's hypocritical -- with a death toll that PETA would protest if it weren't their own doing. PETA kills animals. And its leaders dare lecture the rest of us. ↑

Here is what they want the children to do. It’s super-easy to get active for animals at any age. In fact, there are tons of things that you can do to help that don’t require much cash—just your time and energy. Here are a few ideas to get you started. The best thing you can do to help animals is to stop eating them! For some great tips on how you can save lives, help the environment, and improve your health by cutting animals out of your diet, check out all the info here. Chances are that your local animal shelter can probably use your help, so give ’em a call! You may be too young to volunteer, but you’re never too young to have a fundraiser or a drive to collect supplies. Does your school have a student-choice policy allowing students the right to refuse to dissect? Are there animals being held hostage at your school, commonly known as “classroom pets” or “hatching experiments”? Do your teachers plan yearly field trips to the zoo or the circus? It’s your school, too, and that means that your voice counts, so speak up and let your teachers know that there are alternatives to animal exploitation. And don’t forget to recruit your classmates to help you tackle these issues! Educate others! Use animal issues as topics for all your school projects. From book reports to posters in art class—we’ve got you covered. Letter-writing is one of the best things you can do to help, so get that pen and paper—or computer keyboard—ready! Write letters to the editor of your local newspaper about animal rights issues. Scan the newspaper for upcoming events, issues, or “free to a good home” ads, and fire off a letter to give the animals’ side of the story. For instance, when the circus is coming to town, let the public know what really happens under the big top, and urge readers to boycott animal circuses. Grab some friends or your siblings and set up a literature table in the mall, outside a store, or at the local library (get permission from the “powers that be” first—that means Mom and Dad and the mall office!) and distribute PETA literature. Or gather some friends together and leaflet around town. We’re always looking for new ways to make a difference for our animal friends, so drop us a line and let us know what you’re doing so that we can pass it on. And please, be sure to include pix of you in action, ’cause you may just find yourself gracing the imagess of an upcoming issue of Grrr! magazine. ↑

LINDALU: "I stand behind PETA 100%! They are the only group that has the power to stand up for humane treatment toward animals. " Do you have pets? Your 100% support is to put your animals to sleep, and become a vegetarian. Are you willing to do this ? I am not willing to kill a member of my family for what they belive. ↑

Un less my pet friend had a real viable reason for having to be put to sleep, No I wouldnt! Im not a follower of people and thier personal thaughts. Just as I dont believe every thing that I read especially from the media! We can look at a small part of a big picture and find shame, why cant we look at the bigger part and find the good. I will stand behind my original statement! to say I back PETA 100%. There are groups that have for years tryed and possibly have found fault with PETA, but in the whole PETA has helped with the cruelty againt animals for years. They have done more good than harm. I have read the same info and articles you are posting, they can be found at petakillsanimals.com. I cant base a poor opinion on them solly by the info seen in this article. There will be info that you and I the reader will not be entitled to. we can not say for a fact all the surcomstances that are involved for why some thing like that would be done! You asked what do you think of PETA I said my opinion! ↑

I think they take thinks way to far. We need animals as much as they need us. They are totally hypocritical. You can't bitch about animals being treated poorly, then turn around and kill. They don't like zoo's, these animals can't be returned to the wild. Should they die for that??? Come on get real. ↑

If it is all what it is beeing protrade, then yes thoes people should be prosecuted to the fullest. Because thoes people commited a morel crime while working under the name of PETA it's not to say PETA condones thier actions. They are a small few that go under the name PETA and not all agree with what is beeing seen there. Untill one knows for sure the full reasons as to why, they should not blame the whole PETA organization. ↑

I dont like zoos either. I think that its okay, like in africa where they put tigers and lions in reserves that are injured and they nurse them back to health and let them go. Any RESERVE in any animals native country is a good idea. Zoos should keep the animals they have got, then when they pass on, dont get any more. Ive always thought like this. Some of the conditions they keep them in are really inhumane. I saw a condor at Taronga Park Zoo in Sydney that had a wing span of about 3 metres, in what was akin to a budgie cage. Ive seen pacing behaviour of animals, including Polar Bears, here at Sea World in Australia, these are animals that travel hundreds of miles in the wild, they have them in an enclosure as big as the down stairs area in my house. I also HATE to see ANY elephant enclosed. Again, in the reserves its fine, they have room to run and have a herd. But to keep elephants in a zoo, is about the cruelest thing you can do. ↑

Basically, only animals that should be kept in captivity are domesticated, cats, dogs, birds, guinea pigs, that sort of thing. and NO, I dont believe we should keep snakes and lizards as pets. Anything that belongs in the ecosystem, belongs in the wild. ↑

Stacy you are write there are thoes people who do support PETA and do eat meat. They are called Animal welfarests! I am ashamed to say, I am one of thoes people. I eat meat, but on the other hand it deeply hurts me to see these animals writes striped from them each day. I dont deserve the write to say I suport animal writes because I do nothing that suports that. A meat eater of any kind including fish and dairy can not claim that status! nor can the person who purchases any products that contain animal ingredants or tested on animals. One can only claim that status if ....... every product and matereal they purchase is animal friendly or free. That includes eye makeup hand lotions and many other thing that are not thought of as having animal content. I have raised my daughter to love animals and suport the welfare of them as I do. She has gone one better than I did and became a Vegan. Perchasing all her make up body soaps hair shampoos and conditioners from specialtie vegan shops. She will not eat fish or dairy she only wears man made material clothing. I only wish I had the will and as deep of a passion as she has! ↑

The problem is that the human race has capitalized by making wild animals domesticated so yes in a perfect world every animal would still be wild and live in its natural habitat. But we do not live in a perfect world and the only thing we can do is strive for a perfection we will most likely never see. That being said I own a snake and he is a loved pet he is part of my family i would not like to see him killed just because he is not what most would consider a good pet. i would rather him be a family member tahn a belt. I feel this way about all animals if you are striving for perfection then you do the best you can as an owner to make any animal healthy and happy and it does not count when you keep a 3 ton animal on a 4 foot chain and make sure it has food and water and vet care. there should be more refuges for animals. where they can run and play and be animals. there are some animals that are just not meant to be pets but we should still make a place on earth for them and care about thier well being. ↑

| I'm a Vegan. I consume or use nothing with ANY animal derived ingredients. Many people choose this healthier, cruelty-free way of life. It is very rewarding knowing you have no involvement whatsoever in the mass genocide going on everyday for human "benefit." We have absolutely no NEED, in todays society, to slaughter other living creatures. We are supposed to be intelligent and compassionate beings. I support PETA also. It isn't fair to judge a whole organization on a few individuals. This is why they go "overboard"... as you say. Read the stats... | Ingrid newkirk is just a modern day Hitler, nothing short of what Waco Texas was all about. The FBI should do something before something bad happens. They do nothing but put animals to sleep and get millions of stupid people to keep sending them money. I dont understand why dont people wake the hell up. If you didn't milk a cow dont they know the cow will get sick and die. And why didn't they help save the animals in colorado when the snow storm was so bad? most of the wildlife would never be hunted. The mountains are to big for the hunters to kill them all. but it was a lame excuse not to spend any of the money on what really matters. They have so many people brainwashed it is sad. The american people must wake up before PeTA crashes planes into labs and packing plants. ↑ |

Petmaster, You might be a vegan but did you ever stop to take your own story and study it? 80% of grain products is used by livestock that will be slaughtered. if you take the animals and not weed them out, where is all the grain going to come from that normally feeds these animals that would only go to people if no one ate meat? Then you would cause a crises because the animals would starve you idiot. God made a circle of life for a reason. our planet can not sustain animals and people on just plants alone. And then there would be mass sickness in all animals because they would over populate in the wild and not enough food to go around. Get out of the book world and get into life. ITS NOT POSSIBLE. PETA SUCKS and YOU DO TO! ↑

Redjoey1 I think you are being a bit critical toward Petmasters comment. She has her feelings as you have yours. I don't think it is necesary for name calling! She is a vegan, that alone is saving many animal life's a year. I am an animal lover, I only wish I could put aside my weaknesses and never eat another piece of meat again. I have to commend a person for being able to truly walk the walk , not just talk the talk! ↑
