| hii there..my name is linda..i hav a 2yr old son ill be 18 in july..what i would say to be honest is dont file for child support because automaticly the father will hav custody over yur son..i know i went threw it..nd i wish i never did..he makes minimum wage so what he gives me is crap nd he keeps over 80% of what he makes..going to court and all of that was an emotional wreck and tho it was nice having everyother weekend too myself the pain of not having my son was soo painfull..But if you can prove that yur babydaddy had a criminal record or is a danger for yur son he wont hav custody,,once again u need PROOF..i would also advise you to speak to a lawyer nd make a list of all the questions you have..i hope this helps best wishes linda[3 ↑ |

| Hi Tiffany i just want to say that u shouldnt worry about a boy friend. focus on the baby and finishing school and getting a job. I had a baby @ 17 and my baby daddy wasnt around and still not . just keep sharing everything with ur parents i did and my baby is the happiest lil 6 yr old ever. Hello everyone! My name is Marlieke and I am the sister of a woman who was a teen mother. She spurred me to wanting to change the face and stereotypes of teen moms out there and so I am doing a research project in hopes of giving credit where credit is deserved!

| Well... I didn't read through all the pages of stuff listed here... but I had a child at 19, three months before we were about to be married. Of course, he bolted. BUT - this was 26 years ago. A woman should not be defined by if she has a boyfriend or not. You need to figure out who you are and love that person and THEN you can find a guy. If you feel you NEED a boyfriend, then this will happen again. I can look back and I remember feeling the same feelings but someone told me this and it really hit a nerve. AND, as far as child support/baby daddy.... save yourselves a lot of anger and frustration. Even if the Daddy ISN"T paying child support he can at any time come and attempt to get custy. Resolve yourself that he is the dad and there is nothing you can do about it. If you get court ordered child support - you are eligable for things down the road than if you don't. But, bite the bullet. It is very very very hard. But you are teaching your child a lesson WAY down the road. Trust me. My baby is 26 and he gets it. ↑ |

| I know exactly how your feeling except the only difference is my boyfriend left me about two weeks before the baby was born. Seems like he fled the country i never even see him around town anymore and if i do and im with his son he walks past us like he do doesnt even know he us. He just straggles on with his new girlfriend who mind you is now pregnant to & acts like we dont even exist anymore doesnt hurt me none but i grew up without a father and i wouldnt want that for my son. ↑ |

Hi Mamma! First of all, I applaud you for the effort that you are taking to raise your son at such a young age. Second, I would suggest that you focus not on finding a boyfriend, but rather, a girfriend to share your experience with. Search the internet for mom or single mom support groups or clubs in your area, ask your local priest to introduce you to other single moms, join a mommy and me class, etc. I think right now your focus needs to be on you and your son, and other moms will be less distracting and more helpful to you right now than a 16 year old boy.
