My IEP meeting for my daughter to start Kindergarden is coming up. She has mixed mild cp. I want to have a safety aid and not have her pulled out of class. How do I express this to everyone and get it?

Depending on the State that you live in and your school district getting what you want may be difficult. Check to see if you can get an advocate. Don't go into the IEP alone, bring someone with you. It may also be helpful to let the teacher, or case manager know what you are interested in before hand. You are (and will always be) your child's best advocate. I want to encourage you to keep doing what's best for your daughter, even when it is not easy.

Dear Cass, The IEP is made up for what you want for your child. I have a son who is TBI (traumatic brain injured) I push him through school, and no one liked me. But what you say is what goes. Read you book on special ed, Evan when you go to the meeting be prepared, Look at the form there should nothing on it till you are there sitting and looking at it. What you say must go. No ands ifs or buts. No one can sign their name on the form and not show up. Change the date. Your way, they don't know your daughter like you know her. You may reach me at moonbeam1936@hotmail.com Stand Tall girl, you will win. Earline Surratt
