Hi tori, I have a 14 year old son with ks. He is loving but is prone to tantrums and has learning difficulties. I am struggling to get any understanding or help from the health professionals ( in england)

Hi Tori ... we have three children. The oldest, our son, was just diagnosed in October with KS. He just turned 17 this January 06. The diagnosis came from a sports physical. We are just learning about KS. Up to this point he has not really exhibited some of the "characteristics" of KS ... delayed speech, low IQ, etc. He is tall (6' 2"), but so is his father. He has been a delightful child -- always well behaved, etc. . We are just beginning on this journey. He is seeing a pediatric endocrinologist (sp?) and just started receiving testosterone therapy.

I am pregnant and due in April. I had an amnio which tells us that this son has XXY KS. I have been researching an got some info about starting testostoerone therapy after the baby is born. Apparently the body releases testosterone when a boy is a baby and throughout his life. Therefore, you must find a dr. who is willing to give these shots b/c it is a fairly new concept. I have found one and cannot wait to go see him, when the baby is 2 weeks old. Good luck.
