I am 21 weeks with baby number 5 and im 36 years old and last week I went into the drs office for my regular check up and was given the results for my 20 week
Ultrasound which came back with a mildly dialated kidney . I was
Asked to do the quad screen which I did last week as well and was called in today to discuss the results I tested positive for ds and negative for the other 2 and before my screen I was 1:357 just because of my age alone , and now because of the positive on the ds I'm at 1:76 my risk went up . I'm being refered to a genetic specialist at the hospital and I am being sent for a more
In depth ultrasound , as well as going for amnio .

I was told at my 20 wk ultrasound that there were 2 cyst found on the babies brain and a bright spot on the brain and it was a soft marker for ds. I just had another ultrasound done yesturday at 23 weeks and the can no longer see the cyst on the brain and the bright spot on the heart is still there. I talked to the special dr today and he said that just because he cant see the cyst on the brain anymore doesnt mean anything. Alot of the time by 23 weeks you cant see it anymore even if it is still there. The only way he said that you really know for sure is that you get a test done where they stick a large needle into your stomach and take out some of the babies amiotic fluid...but that has a risk of miscarriage or making you go into labor, so I think im good not knowing. I will find out when the baby gets here and Im going to love him if he has ds or if he doesnt.

Just to update everyone, I had my baby boy on June 1st and he is perfectly healthy. He had a calcium deposit on his heart (EIF) aka echogenic intracardiac focus on his 18 week ultrasound and my quad screen was abnormal. My risk for him having down syndrome was 1/230. I did not get an amnio and I worried my entire pregnancy, but he is totally healthy and no down syndrome!

yes I am going threw it right now. I am currently 30 weeks pregnant and i had a level 2 ultrasound they found soft makers. However I am very confused cause I had 2 diffrent opinions and neither one came up with the same makers. A nd at the same time neither one had the opisite. and didint mention anything of what the other said. If your baby is ok it wont be about time their done stressing us out. Im very unhappy and looking for relief. They sent me to a heart specialist and he said that he couldnt find anything wrong with my babies heart. but let the other dr.s tell it my baby has a heart defect. Now I dont what to believe. If they are wrong about the heart what else are they wrong about. I did the blood test it came back negative which they said the blood test is so accurate. But my question now if it is then why are they still trying to get me to do an amio.

My 16 year old daughter had a 20 week untrasound and was told she has SUA- single umbilical cord arterey, and the doctors are sure the baby arm is not formed right, and they think they see calcium deposits in his bowels, - We are traveling to a women's hospital next week for tests, the doctors say they are testing for down syndrome,

does any one know if these are markers for DS

I'm so scared! I had my ultrasound done a couple days ago,i am 20 weeks pregnant and everything was fine except for the kidneys being dilated (bilatetal pyelectasis). I'm only 22 years old and this is my first baby so when I heard it could be a marker for downs syndrome,i seriously just wanted to cry! I'm so worried. my doctor had referred me to maternal fetal medicine for a more in depth ultra sound to see if there are anymore markers. she has also mentioned an amniocentesis test, it was just soo much to take in!! :( I never thought I would be placed in this situation

I went for my 20 weeks ultrasound and found out I am having a boy. The next day I get a call to go to my ob to talk about my test. He tells me that my fetal test prior and my ultrasound both showed that there is something wrong with my babyies brain and spine. That he will not even live once born or function and my have to terminate. I am going next week to have a ultrasound done at a special hospital. Has anyone has this happen with both blood and ultrasound? did anyone have a positive outcome? I am so worried and fear the worst.
