Andrew is becoming a right little terror at night,we have to sit on the end of his bed till he fall's asleep, then creep out of the room and turn the light off.
The problem is that if he wake's up in the night he get's upset because in his mind, mummy was there when i fell to sleep so were's she gone now?

It has got to the point were most night's he end's up in with us!

Last night we had about 4 hour's sleep as he was just messing around,Dan and i both had to get up for work this morning and Andrew had preschool.

I am willing to let him cry it out at bedtime, what i want to do is read him a story tuck him in and say goodnight then leave the room.

Does anyone have any other method's that have worked?  ?

Just keep doing the same thing everynight.. Read him his story, tuck him in walk out!!! Let him fuss for a few nights and it will just become routine... I can finally put both of my kids to bed without having to lay down with them and Alison is 5 1/2...  =

well I find if they must be in your room make them sleep on the floor not your bed. It is not comfy to have a kid in the bed kicking around. So our 2 year old when she comes in in the night knows that she can't get into bed and lays on the floor and sleeps.  =

I dont want Andrew sleeping on the floor as it would not be comfy and he has to be up for preschool most morning's,He need's a good night's sleep.  =

It did take time to get her to the point of the floor but one night when she came in my hubby and I said hey look we are tired of you in bed with us it is either the floor or back to your bed and by word she got down on the floor and has not got in our bed since.  =

oh I agree kids need good night sleeps but it is so hard to sleep good with a kid in bed witih you. We make a bed on the floor it is not like she just lays on the carpet with no blankets or pillow. They are young to I think they can sleep just about anywhere. LOL  =

Sounds bad, but a friend of mine had a problem similar to yours lynneings, and when she finally had enough, she went to WalMart, bought some of those childproof doorknob covers. She put one on the INSIDE of her kids door. The kid couldn't get out of the room unless she or DH opened it. She put it on the door, went in the kids room, helped her into her pjs, put her in bed, and walked out, closing the door behind her. The kid figured out REAL QUICK she couldn't get out of her room, as it is very difficult to manipulate the knob covers, even for some adults. My friend said that kid freaked out the first couple of nights, and after that, she was fine. They did have to listen to the tantrums for those few nights, but they didn't have to keep sticking her in her room. On night 2, they ended up using earplugs while she freaked out. TOUGH LOVE. Sometimes it is necassary.  =

you just have to make sure you KEEP to routine.. soon it will sink it.
Giving them a bath before bed is good... because it can make them relax alot more for bedtime... A bedtime story is a great idea like you are doing... and then just pop him into bed.. give him a kiss goodnight, and tell him its time to sleep in your bed like a BIG boy.. and u will see him in the morning !  =
