Happy birthday to me!!
Its my birthday today, and I got the best wish from my mom. Well more like words of wisdom. She said "this is a time of new beginnings and I must take every step as a blessing from god". I just did my reflections for the month and can't believe that I am four months pregnant already. Time is going by so fast.

I am going to the toilet more now than before, LOL more like 5 times a day. Roshan (hubby is getting really annoyed) but he tends to laugh it off every time I need to run. It happened once while we were at the cinema watching Beowolf, It was no fun having to go before the end.

Tonight I was so hot, I had to cool down in a luke warm bath. Roshan was so sweet, he fanned me with a piece of cardboard to cool me down afterwards. Now I am freezing LOL...the joys of motherhood.

14 weeks and going strong!!

So far everything is going much better than the first few months. Everyone is being so nice to me, its really strange how everyone treats a pregnant woman.  I had some cramps during the day but nothing to worry about according my my doctor and all of the books I've read they are very normal, as its the womb expanding as well as baby growing. Apparently they are little contractions, can't get to the proper name for them. But they do increase later on closer to actual labour.  On the 4th of January I will be going for the 16 week scan. So I will get to see this little one again on the screen. Its so exciting...

5 weeks pregnant!!

Dear Diary,

What a surprise when I found out today that I am 5 weeks pregnant (15th October day before wedding anniversary). I've been feeling tired and bloated but never thought that I was actually pregnant. You had to see the nurse face when I asked her if she was really sure that there were two blue lines on the pregnancy test.

All I remember her saying was "Congratulations Mommy!! You are expecting". I know I cried as we were trying for a while and I had a miscarriage a few months before. I was so afraid that I would loose this one as well.

Two days later I had these terrible cramps, and because I am new to all of this not knowing what was happening my husband rushed me to the hospital where the Midwife told me that I might be miscarrying. It felt like my heart fell into my stomach, we then rushed to the nearest government hospital for an emergency scan to make sure that everything was okay.

There we found out that everything was okay and for my darling husband who is a bit of a realist - he wanted to see the baby on the screen to make sure that the pregnancy was real. And low and behold we saw little one. He/she was so tiny the size of my finger nail, it was amazing. I was so happy and will be taking it easier from now on.

9 weeks pregnant!

I've been suffering from terrible morning sickness and it started since I was 7 weeks. I can't seem to keep anything in. Thankfully it only happens in the evening, but unfortunately its disturbing my sleeping patterns. I'm up at 03:00 am every morning as the cramps have gotten worse. At least now I have read WHAT TO EXPECT WHEN EXPECTING and one of Dr Miriam Stoppard's books  to prepare me for what is ahead.  Roshan ( my husband) got them at the library for me today.

I have worked hard at keeping the foods away from me that make me ill. So far I found that I am off chocolates, meat, oats and some other of my favorite foods.

12 weeks!

My morning sickness has passed thankfully I am back to eating meat, but my love for chocolate is gone forever. The scan was scheduled for today and so far everything is going well. My gynecologist wants me to gain at least 10-12kgs and nothing more. I've had some strange cravings, for potato fries mainly and one afternoon for pototo salad, which I ended up making in the middle of the night to have the next day. I have found that I am more prone to salads and fish. Hey at least its a healthy baby.

I'm 13 weeks along already!!!

Dear Diary

I’m 13 weeks pregnant (3months) into my second trimester and so far everything is going well. We went for the blood tests and scan yesterday, this little one is so active and so big the doctor had to check if I am really 13 weeksJ. I’m such a proud mom. I will be making up a little scrap book with all of the baby scan pictures and a little diarized article next to each little picture. Hopefully for the next scan on the 4th we will see more. I’m really excited and showing a little. All my clothes do not fit and luckily for me I have some maternity underwear and a few shirts. My wonderful husband bought them for me when I was 9 weeks pregnant for about this time. The morning sickness has passed and I am always hungry now. Thankfully I have a healthy appetite, and eating a lot of fish mostly hake as I can’t stand snoek and steering away from shell fish as all the books I’ve read says that it’s a major taboo. My weakness is potato fries, and I have managed to cut it down to every third week. I did a Chinese lunar calendar test to find out the sex of the baby. You have to take your age at the time of conception and the month and add it together, then look at the calendar it will show if it’s a boy or a girl. It’s a boy as far as the chart’s concerned. But I will wait and see when the little tyke is born.
