It’s another morning shift, and I’m more focused than last week. Its getting really uncomfortable to sit in these chairs due to all this weight I’m carrying (baby and water). Little one never moved again, and this time I managed to get hold of my gynaecologist on Wednesday, for an emergency scan. Thankfully he didn’t think I was being silly about my worries. Seeing as I am a first time mom, and very new to all of the above. Roshan managed to get the morning off to take me through to the hospital, so that I didn’t have to go alone. It was great seeing junior on the ultrasound screen. He/she weighs 300g, 17 cm long from head to rump, heart rate is 144 all good, and my blood pressure is normal. Apparently junior is moving, I just can’t feel it.
I went to gym, that evening and walked on the treadmill for 45 minutes, when we got home junior’s movements were stronger than before. No longer the fluttering feeling, more bubble movements, they are so weird, strange actually. I’m still a bit sad that Roshan can’t feel anything. Its fun in the mornings and evenings when he has little conversations with the bump, he calls it little lessons LOL. It’s so sweet when he calls me in to the bathroom in the morning so that he can say good morning, gives the bump and kiss, but don’t forget the good night kiss as well. My kiss is not very far from thatJ.

18 weeks and counting !!
Dear Diary, Jan 16th
I’m back at work today, thankfully a morning shift. I’ll be going off night shifts as of February, but first I need to get a doctor’s note to confirm.
I was so concerned for the past few days, I never felt the little tyke move. I called up my mother as I needed someone to talk to about my concerns. It was probably nothing but with me being a new mom-to-be I didn’t just want to call up the doctor and then its nothing. She suggested I go to the clinic down the way from my apartment for the nurses to check, to put my nerves to rest.
I climbed into a warm bath, low and behold the little one started to move. Must be because I was playing music in the bathroom from my mobile phone, and he/she ended up moving throughout the night. Roshan came home, I guess he was just as concerned (he doesn’t normally show his feelings), and he just walked in the door and asked me if I was ready to go to the hospital. No more sleep for me I guess LOL. My mother called later the evening to find out what the doctor said, but I mentioned that it was all okay seeing as baby moved. She says that the baby is lazy as she had the same experience with my sister.
I’m reading this amazing book called “Chicken soup for expectant moms”. It’s brilliant, short stories from other mothers and fathers covering their experiences as first time parents. I would recommend this book to all soon-to-be moms. Even Roshan has a laugh after reading what other fathers have gone through. I was so amazed that he actually read the book, where as he found the “What to expect when expecting” very boring. I must admit so did I, ended up researching getting most of my information off the internet and reading reference books at the library.
I can’t believe how the time is flying past. Roshan and I were discussing day care centres and schools this morning on my way to work. I’m not happy that I have to put the little in a Montessori when he/she is 6 months old because I have to go back to work.

Another day in the office!!
Dear Diary, Jan 11th
Another day in the office, I should say another night shift. I’m not as tired as I was a week ago though. Guess that is a good thing. It’s so strange to think that my cousin is almost due and I have 5 months to go before it’s my turn.
Clever me brought some reading material along to help the time go by. Seeing as my clients are speaking amongst themselves and not asking me for any assistance. I’ve tried the breathing thing which is mentioned in the baby magazines in times of exhaustion and stress. My back has been hurting though, probably need to get other brassier’s as the “girls” (Roshan calls them that) have gone way bigger than they were before.

Exhaustion!!
Dear Diary, Jan 9th
I am so exhausted this morning, thankfully I managed to get a good nights rest. In other words I went to bed early. Roshan got take out last night as we only got home after seven in the evening so it was seafood (yeah). That is all I eat these days. Unfortunately for me I never managed to eat much. Appetite went after two prawns, little fish and some rice.
I had breakfast this morning though, some muesli and yoghurt. Plus I have orange juice on standby and of course my water which I will be having later in the day (more or less the whole dayJ).
I’m back at work started this morning at six again, tomorrow night it’s back to a night shift for two nights. Then I’m blissfully off for four days, to catch up on some needed sleep.
The hours are dragging possibly because there is nothing to do in the office. I’ve found some nice Dutch fairy tales to start reading to Little Kassan, seeing as he is able to hear sounds now in the womb.
Your baby's weight has doubled in two weeks and now weighs about 3.5 ounces! The crown-to-rump length of your growing baby is 4.4 to 4.8 inches. If you spread your hand out opened wide, you can see about how big your baby is.- quote from I-am-pregnant.com.
I just watched a scan of a 20 week baby on the above site and it was really amazing to see the little one move, even got to hear the sound of the heart beat. Can’t wait as I will be 20 weeks when I go for the next scan on the 1st Feb.
