Dear Diary, May 9^th, 35.5 weeks

I’m so tired, but I guess it is expected as I am entering the last stage of the pregnancy. You hardly moved yesterday, but this morning you are moving like crazy. My feet are swollen, terrible pressure in my lower abdomen, and my back hurts. I was told that I can expect you at any stage now. Believe me I am at that stage where I want you to be born now, you are getting so heavy. The whole day I have been readjusting my office chair, and am not getting comfortable. What I have been doing is reading up on the early signs of labor. I’ve got some of the signs, the loosening of joints, easier bowel movements, you’ve dropped in the birth canal, pasty discharge…but we will have to see. I’ll be seeing the doctor in 10 days. But I will keep an eye on all these signs. I’ve let your daddy know about the signs and he is very worried now.

I’ve got four working days left then I’m on maternity leave. I guess then I will have all the time to rest. Three weeks off before your due date, that is if you decide to come earlier.

15:45pm

I started getting sharp pains in my left side of my abdomen; pressure has increased in my lower abdomen and vagina when walking. I’ve called the gynecologists office and thankfully got a hold of one of the other doctor’s on duty, Dr. Roos. He said that it sounds like I could be in early labor but have to monitor it for now. If it gets worse I have to go to the hospital immediately for a checkup. I’ve called daddy to keep him posted, thankfully his calmer than I am right now. Looks as if you are going to be born some time this weekend or early next week.

I was so ill on Wednesday, out with the flu. As you know mummy is not allowed to take any form of medication so I had to ride it out. Your dad was so wonderful he has been making sure that I get in extra vitamin C every night before I go to bed.

Saturday we went to the comic book fare at the atrium. I managed to get a photograph with the entire super hero cast. Wonder Woman, Spiderman, Catwoman, Captain and Iron man were all there. Unfortunately when I checked this morning for the photographs it was not yet on the site. I was hoping to put it in your album.

Yesterday was the 34.5 week appointment. You’ve moved down a lot so we can expect you at any time. A little problem has been picked up! My blood and daddy’s blood are different, I’m O negative and daddy is A positive. So we are hoping that your blood is the same as mine so that there are no complications. I had to give blood again for them to run more tests. We will hear on the 19^th that everything is okay. I’m sure it will be alright.

I had the baby shower on Saturday, it was so much fun. Even though I had my face swoved in flour when I guessed your gifts wrong , mommy is such a peanut brain at the moment. Daddy is out shopping for bedding for your crib today. And I am unfortunately at work as usual. You were so active last night, your movements were actually painful. I could hardly sleep at all. Kept tossing and turning the whole night. But it was worse getting out of bed.

I guess you are going to be here very soon. It's okay, daddy has put our hospital bags in the boot just in case you decide to arrive early.
