Will the Nausea End? Within an hour of commenting in my last entry about my nausea feeling better I was crouched over the toilet. I felt kind of lousy the rest of the day, but was fine over the weekend. I'm feeling pretty good this morning too, so I'm really hoping the worst of the nausea is over. My energy level is definitely better, if not great, but I'm hoping that will improve too.
I got a bunch of gardening and other projects taken care of over the weekend, so I feel like I got some exercise in. I ate a lot too but I guess I'm burning it as I haven't seen a gain on the scale. I am up 7 pounds total since findingg out about the pregnancy, which seems like a lot to me. But I'm trying not to stress about it, what will be will be. I ordered a maternity bra online today after not finding anything when shopping over the weekend. I just have to resign myself to the fact that I'm going to keep expanding!
Things to look forward to: Memorial Day coming up, long weekend! We'll be visiting my nieces and breaking our news to them (their mother already knows but we wanted to tell them ourselves). Then next Tuesday morning I'll see the high-risk doctor (finally) to determine if I need any additional treatment. Then the Tuesday after that I have my second prenatal exam which will include another ultrasound. I can't wait to see the little bean again!

Almost 11 Weeks! The specialist postponed my appointment with him today, so now I'm not going until after Memorial Day. It's pouring rain here and I was going to have to go early this morning, so I can't say I'm unhappy. I am anxious to find out if I'll need shots though, but it looks like I'll be through most of the first trimester before I start them anyway - if I start them. I know 12 weeks marks the end of the danger zone and a lot of people consider that to be the end of the first trimester. But isn't it technically 13 weeks/3 days or something like that? Oh well, I'm just looking forward to the 12 week mark at this point.
My nausea has gotten much better - it's not gone completely but it doesn't come on so suddenly anymore. I also seem to have a bit more energy. I hope these are all good things and no a sign that something is wrong. In any case, I've been able to regulate my eating much better.
My hubby came with me to the baby store a couple of days ago and we checked out all kinds of things. He made some very valid, practical points about the quality of some of the furniture there, so this weekend we're going to check out some regular furniture stores. My parents are buying us a rocker/glider which will be great for breastfeeding the baby - plus we need a comfortable piece of furniture in the living room as the couch is fairly worn.

Feeling More Energetic I got caught up on sleep this weekend and I'm definitely feeling more energetic. The nausea isn't so bad now either, so I'm really hoping the worst of it is over. I've been eating A LOT lately, especially over the weekend, and not all of it has been very healthy. I generally eat healthy foods and snacks during the week though, so I'm going to strive to do that this week.
I can't believe I've hit the 10-week mark already! I have an appointment to see a specialist on Friday with the high-risk/fetal medicine group at Yale. I've got a bunch of questions for him, but he'll also tell me if it's necessary for me to start giving myself shots of Lovenox in the stomach to prevent clotting and miscarriage. Right now I take a baby aspirin per day but my blood factors predispose me to clotting so that might be a necessary precaution. I'm not looking forward to having to give myself shots (never done it before)...but I'll do whatever is necessary to ensure I have a healthy pregnancy!

Bragging about No Nausea I just bragged to my mother and hubby John last night and again this morning that its seems like my nausea is getting better and I'm more energetic. I've been staying up much later and not feeling as tired after the work day. Why oh why did I have to go and do that? I was rewarded by the spins a little while ago and then I promptly vomited up the chicken noodle soup I'd just had. That will teach me....2 weeks and 5 days until the first trimester is complete. I hope the nausea goes away by then!!
