29 Weeks - I Can't Believe We're in the Home Stretch I had a good doctor's visit on Friday, although my stomach was measuring around 31 weeks. I wonder if that means I'll go early. I continue to feel good, with lower backaches at the end of the day and some groin pain at night. But it's not nearly as bad as it was since I started sleeping with a pillow between my legs. I'm still sleeping well too and am fairly high energy, although I do poop out in the evening. I guess that's to be expected though. Overall, I feel pretty good considering what I've heard about the third trimester!
I made some progress in the Bean's room Friday night and got it mostly painted. John and I are planning to finish it together tonight, and then I can work on the trim and the doors later in the week. Then we can get to the fun part of putting the multi-colored designs on the walls. I won't post pics until it's all done though. Tomorrow we're going to order carpet for the nursery and our bedroom. Hopefully we won't have to wait too long for them to install it. Then Friday we'll probably purchase the stroller and car seat - gifts from my parents. Each week I can't believe just how much progress we're making!
We had a wedding last weekend and another this weekend so we haven't gotten as much done around the house as we normally would. We'll make up for it after though. I have less than 3 weeks left at my office job and it will be strictly freelancing after that, which will give me plenty of time to finish up Bean related projects. I've been getting the urge to scrubdown the house too, and I just haven't had time to do it. Can't wait!
I now go to for prenatal exams every 2 weeks and we have 8 more Bradley classes left. Wow.

Office is Now a Nursery A lot has happened in the last week. Our Bradley class went well on Thursday, and it was great to meet other couples who have the same goals as us about natural childbirth. And it turns out that one of the couples in the class lives on our street. Small world! The instructor gave us some exercises to do and they really help stretch out my back and groin area, both of which have been aching intermittently. And I'm also tracking my protein, which should be between 80 and 100 grams a day. I'm getting just over 80 grams per day so far so I'm right on track.
I took my gestational diabetes test on Friday morning so I'll find out the results of that this week. I'm hoping all is well, and I see my OB for the next prentatal exam on Friday. The baby has been moving around a lot and my nieces got to feel some movement yesterday, which was pretty cool.
We got a bunch of work done in on the apartment over the last few days in preparation for the bean. I got all the new spindles on the front staircase painted (that John had installed while I was on vacation) and painted the front door. The front hall is almost completely done now and is much safer for us and all the folks we expect to visit once the bean arrives. Today John cleared out his office and moved everything upstairs. So we now have an empty nursery that is in serious need of love and care! We already put the pack n' play in there and realized the room is much larger than we thought, so it looks like we can set up that and the crib as well as a dresser. My sister-in-law suggested putting the changing table my mother-in-law has for us in the kitchen (near water for easy cleanup) and we have room in there so that's a great idea. She gave us a couple of changing table pads too - and she has a beautiful dresser/armoire combo in light wood for us that will go well with the crib. Things are really shaping up!
We'll get paint for the nursery this week and we have to decide on trim and door colors. We also need to spray paint the radiator in there. Once all that's done we can order carpet for the nursery and our bedroom (after painting the ceiling in there, which desperately needs patching and painting). Hopefully within the next couple of weeks we can order the carpet because I'm not sure how long we'll have to wait to get it installed.
It's all very exciting and I can't believe I'm 28 weeks already. I feel a lot better now that the nursery is empty, and we've already put a bunch of clothes and other things for the bean in the closet. Of course, I'll feel even better once it's painted and set up and I can wash the bean's clothes and actually put them away. We'll begin stockpiling diapers this week too and now we have a place to put them.
Almost forgot, tomorrow is our 7-year wedding anniversary. Wow! We went out for a wonderful dinner at one of our favorite restaurants on Friday and had a fun night together celebrating. Tomorrow will be low key with dinner at home since we're both working. Anyway, I've updated the photo album with some pictures from Friday - my belly is getting SO huge.

3rd Trimester I know there are varying opinions about when the trimesters begin and end, but I've been taking a mathematical approach - 40 weeks divided by 3! That makes the most sense to me, so that means I am now officially in my third trimester. I'm feeling good, so I have no major complaints. The trip back from my parents was uneventful and I spent the last few days catching up on sleep and projects around the house. With the exception of the ever present backaches and sore boobs (which feel like boulders right about now) and some pain on one side of my groin - I'm doing okay.
I had a growth ultrasound on Friday and all is well with the bean. Baby is growing on target and the limbs are about a week or so ahead. They estimate the weight at 2 pounds 9 ounces now. Whoa! That puts the baby in the 89th percentile. I'm not getting too excited about having some really huge baby just yet because I know the weight is an estimate. I'm a little person (5 ft 2.5 inches) and even though John is really tall at 6 ft 4, he was an average baby of about 7.5 pounds. So hopefully that means I won't have a really huge baby! We couldn't get any pictures because the bean had it's back to us, but that's OK. He/she is laying sideways across my belly and has been very active, we saw those arms and legs pumping yet again.
We got our Pack n' Play assembled tonight and it looks great. We also spent the last couple of days rearranging and cleaning the attic and got a coat of primer on the area where we'll be setting up the guest bedroom. We also bought the paint for the while attic today, a nice sage color. Once that's painted we can set up the bedroom and John can begin moving his office up there so we can tackle the nursery.
I go back to my office job tomorrow and I have exactly 7 weeks left. I think it's going to fly by! We've got a lot going on, and I have to go for my gestational diabetes one-hour test this week. We also start Bradley classes on Thursday. We'll celebrate our 7-year wedding anniversary this weekend, and then we have weddings to attend the 2 following weekends. After all that's done we'll really have to focus on getting the nursery ready - only 13 weeks til my due date!

I Think the Baby Moved Up 26 weeks already! I'll be entering my third trimester this week, just about the time I get back home to Connecticut. I honestly can't believe it. My belly seems to have shifted up since I've been visiting with my parents, they've noticed it too. I think the baby changed position as I know feel kicks and punches both high and low. Both my parents got to feel the baby kick too, so that was cool! The kicks are definitely getting harder, but aren't to the point where they bother me or wake me up at night - yet.
My aunt purchased the first item off our registry this week, our Pack and Play. John said it got shipped to the house so that's great news. My mother-in-law also got us a used changing table that's still at her place. We may not have room for it in the nursery but we can put it upstairs and use it as a backup for when we're hanging out up there.
On that front, the sheetrockers finally finished the job! John has a couple of touchup things to do, but when I get home we can start rearranging up there and then move his office up. Then we'll be free to paint the nursery and the attic and really get to work assembling and preparing for the Bean's arrival. It's going to be a busy month with attending a baby shower for John's cousin this weekend, our anniversary the following, and 2 weddings in the following weekends. That takes care of September! And we start our Bradley Classes next week too. I honestly can't believe how quickly everything is moving along now!
