Friday the 18th We just got back from our last doctor's appointment. Sophia still hasn't budged (though my belly button did get as close to popped as it will be in the last couple days) so it was time to schedule an induction. We will go into the hospital tomorrow night at 8:00 for them to give me something to dilate my cervix overnight. Then when the doctor gets there Friday morning, they will start me on pitocin to induce me. That means that Sophia will be born on Friday night sometime.
Unfortunately, Dr. Howell will not be the doctor to deliver on Friday. Fortunately, it will be Dr. Neville, my second pick, who will deliver her. I have thought that if anything ever happened to Dr. Howell, I would take Dr. Neville in a heartbeat. She is really nice and has a great bedside manner.
I know that there are some negatives to being induced (e.g. labor is supposed to be more painful) but I am relieved to know that our waiting will soon be over. So keep us in your thoughts and prayers over the next days and weeks. We have quite the journey ahead of us!
2008-04-15 (40 weeks)
Overdue Today is the second day past Sophia's due date and it doesn't seem that she will be making an appearance soon. I have felt something that I thought might be a contraction (because it was painful) a couple of times today. Of course they were hours apart and who knows if they were actually contractions.
Our next doctor appointment is tomorrow and at that time I suppose we will schedule an induction. I'm going to request that it be done this week because on the 19th, Sophia's Nonnie is going to Philadelphia for four months. We will see if they are receptive to that request. Fingers crossed!
