Sugar Momma? Yesterday I went in for a follow up glucose test. My glucose test last Thursday came back with elevated glucose levels. Yesterday's test is meant to find out if I have gestational diabetes. I had to go in to the office in the morning and drink another glucose drink and get my blood drawn before the drink and at one, two and three hour intervals after the drink. I should know the results of the test today or tomorrow.
Of course now I'm wondering why this is happening. So far, the pregnancy has been fine. I'm not overweight, I haven't gained too much weight, I don't eat a bunch of junk food and I always take my vitamins. So what gives?
I will update here when I find out the results.

The Best Laid Plans... I had written earlier about my worries of a baby shower and whether or not it was uncouth to throw the shower ourselves. Then our friend told us that she had been planning on surprising us with one. Unfortunately, unforeseen circumstances are now preventing her from being able to complete her hostess duties. So now, uncouth or not, Dean and I are throwing our own baby shower in honor of Sophia Kim Adia.
Of course the baby shower is now less than three weeks away and invitations haven't gone out yet! Not to worry, as soon as I heard the news, I set in motion a plan to make our own invitations. Of course, things didn't go quite as planned. I wasn't able to use the colors of card stock that I wanted because apparently Kinko's isn't really a full service print-shop (I hereby reserve the right not to have banana yellow ANYWHERE in the shower decorations). I also wasn't able to get the 40+ invitations done last night and in the mail this morning. But I did put a pretty good dent in the construction process last night and I think that the invitations should be in the mail tomorrow. Yes, this is only 2.5 weeks notice, but it could be worse. I think back to the day that I got a call telling me that our wedding reception had been double booked just a few days before the event. That was definitely more overwhelming and everything turned out fine. Of course, I did need some encouragement late last night when I decided that the invitations where absolutely dreadful and felt the waterworks coming. At the end of the day, I think the invitations, though not what I was hoping for, will be impressive to anyone who hears of the record speed in which they were done. Have a look for yourself in the photo album.

Our 7 Month Prenatal Visit Yesterday was our 7 month prenatal visit. We met with a different doctor in case Dr. Howell isn't able to deliver Sophia. Dr. Neville was very nice and I wouldn't mind at all if she was the one to be there on Sophia's big day.
I had to drink the concentrated fruit punch drink for a glucose test and my blood was drawn for that and to check for anemia. Though we don't know the results of those yet, we suspect that I'm neither anemic nor have gestational diabetes. I asked the doctor about my mom's late term miscarriage and was told that we have nothing to worry about because such things aren't genetic. Other than that, my blood pressure is normal and the length of my uterus is what it should be. Sophia is facing down right now, which is what I had guessed because it feels more like scratches below my belly button and more like kicks above. She can still change positions, but she's more likely to stay in one place after 31, 32 weeks.
I also took out my naval ring. I had bought a flexible one online, but don't like the way it looks. I think I may just leave it out for the rest of the pregnancy because I'm not that worried about the hole closing up. It is kind of strange not having it there any more since I've been wearing a naval ring for the last ten years. :)
Dean got an update on how little Isaac Forshee is doing from David. He has jaundice and is getting light therapy at home. Newborn jaundice is fairly common and we have every expectation that he will get better soon. I do admit that Beth's experience, from what I've been told, does have me a little more worried about labor now. But I try not to worry about it too much. I know that no matter what, Sophia will be worth it. Also, I take comfort in the fact that the hospital we are going to will allow me to have the same nurse with me throughout labor and delivery and we will be in brand new delivery and postpartum rooms.
Before this posting gets too long (too late ) I'll post what is going on with Sophia this week, the 30th of pregnancy, according to babycenter.com
Your baby's about 15.7 inches long now, and she weighs almost 3 pounds (like a head of cabbage). A pint and a half of amniotic fluid surrounds her, but that volume will decrease as she gets bigger and takes up more room in your uterus. Her eyesight continues to develop, though it's not very keen; even after she's born, she'll keep her eyes closed for a good part of the day. When she does open them, she'll respond to changes in light but will have 20/400 vision — which means she can only make out objects a few inches from her face. (Normal adult vision is 20/20.)

A Girlfriend for Sophia We just found out that our friends John and Brandi are having a little girl! They are due in June so it is obvious that they will be great friends.
