Dean vetoed Jane and Elizabeth for middle names.  Does any one have any ideas?

Hello 2nd Trimester!
Today I am officially through the first trimester and am beginning the second trimester.  This is the semester of smooth sailing and expanding belly.  Of course, I didn't have much trouble this first trimester anyway.  I am glad to know that I will start beginning to look pregnant, because I don't really feel pregnant. I'm still a little sleepy much of the time, but I have much more energy now than I used to.

There's been a lot in the news recently about fish and pregnancy.  So for those of you who are wondering, I've been taking fish oil since I got the go ahead from my doctor at our first appointment (about 8 weeks).  I also eat chunk light tuna, tilapia, and occasionally salmon.  I don't even really like fish, but I had started eating it more earlier this year because of the health benefits for me and the baby.  I don't think that I get to the 12 oz recommended per week, but the fish oil supplements probably take care of that (and I get a high quality brand that specifies what type of fish the oil comes from).  So hopefully our little baby will have a nicely developed brain and nervous system!

I've also been think more about the middle names issue.  For Sophia, Grace and Rose have already been vetoed as too old sounding. So yesterday I thought, what about Jane or Elizabeth? Jane after the wonderful Jane Austen and Elizabeth after Elizabeth Bennet from my favorite Jane Austen novel, Pride and Prejudice. Sophia Jane Adia.  Sophia Elizabeth Adia.  Both sound rather nice to me.  Although, using the middle name Elizabeth would keep me from having an Eliza later.  Of course, Dean probably wouldn't like that name anyway.  I'll just have to run these names by Dean now!

For a middle name for Devan, I haven't gotten farther than Michael and it sounds so plain that I know I don't like it. We thought about using a family name, but none of them sound right yet. Dean keeps suggesting George, but I know that is in jest (there is a Mavs player named Devean George).  Oh well, we have another 6 months to figure it out!

Surprise!
I had originally thought I would do this pink and blue theme for the journal until we found out what sex the baby will be. Today, however, Dean and I have decided not to find out until the baby is born.  So, we will have to keep you, and ourselves, in suspense.  This is going to be especially hard for me since I have been long anticipating the moment when our doctor would tell us if we are having a girl or a boy.  Even more so since I don't have Mommy ESP that is telling me the sex of our baby (as seems to have happened with my friends with kids).  But we've already picked our names and the theme for our nursery was already going to be unisex so that the next babies could also use it, so those decisions won't be affected.

So, you ask, why would I forgo finding out if we are having a Sophia or a Devan when the curiosity will likely eat me alive?  Well, Dean wanted to name our baby Sophie instead of Sophia and I REALLY want Sophia. Dean REALLY wanted to have the baby's sex be a great surprise at birth and I wanted to find out in two months. So we compromised. There you have it. I apologize to everyone who wanted to make something pink or blue for the baby. You will just have to suffer through the immense desire to know what color will adorn our precious jelly bean, just as I will!

I know there are other short, pregnant women out there!
I got my first two pair of maternity jeans this weekend. Since I've been wearing my regular jeans with the assistance of a rubber band, it was nice to be able to get something in size small!  I had gone to Old Navy thinking that I would get some jeans and slacks, maybe a few shirts.  But the only pants they carry in the "short" size are jeans, no slacks. Old Navy is definitely missing out on a demographic of pregnant women here.  I see petite women all the time, some of them pregnant, and yet the petite selection for maternity clothes is seriously lacking.  It's not just Old Navy, it's also Target and JC Penney (though they do have petite slacks) and the Motherhood type stores.  It's just a bit frustrating. My big fear is that come winter, it will be impossible to find a sweater that fits (I hate shopping for sweaters already because of this).  I only hope that by then I will be a "hot" pregnant woman and will choose to eschew sweaters anyway.  If anyone has recommendations, I'm eager to hear them!
