Baby has arrived!

Beached whale

Saturday I layed out by my friend, Kelsey's pool at her apartment. The weather was great, and even though it was a little windy, it was still hot!  Luckily, there wasn't many people at the pool to witness me in my swimsuit.  My left arm had gotten really sunburned the day before when I drove the golf cart around while my dad, granddad, and brother played golf.  So I made sure to put on sunscreen everywhere to prevent another sunburn.  So when I got to the pool, I had the task of covering my body with lotion and trying to look normal doing it.  My swimsuit is one of those maternity tankini ones, so my belly was covered, but since there was only 2 other girls there, I lifted it every now and then to try to get my white belly some color. Fortunately, I didn't feel as fat as I thought I was going to.  But I did realize that I cannot tan my back and legs since I can't lay on my stomach. So next time I will have to bring a float so I can lay on it in the pool.  My brother and Liz got back from their cruise last week and they were telling us about this "walrus" that hung out by the hot tub all week. So that's all I could think about as I lay out by the pool!  But no one pointed and laughed, so that's good. haha.  My family is planning to go to our condo in 2 weeks, so that'll be fun.

Tomorrow I go to the doctor. Hopefully my weight will be OK and I haven't gained a lot over the last 2 weeks!  I have been eating a lot more healthy and working out and doing yoga.  So I feel like I haven't gained but maybe 2 lbs (hopefully).  But more importantly, I'm getting my 4D ultrasound done tomorrow morning!!  I'm so excited about getting to see her face! I just hope she cooperates with us! A lady at my mom's work had one and her baby was asleep with it's hand over her face. So it was a waste of money for her.  But Brittany's turned out great... So hopefully Kaylee Beth will be awake and moving. She usually moves around until about 11 and is fairly still during the day and moves around again about 830 til what seems like 11 the next morning! But I may have a Diet coke before I go just to make sure she's alert and moving for the ultrasound.  So hopefully I will have some good pictures to post tomorrow night.  I've also been meaning to take some belly pictures, so maybe I can do those tomorrow as well.

Update

Not much has been going on with the pregnancy.  This past weekend I went to Knoxville, TN, for my cousins baby shower. It was a lot of fun getting to see everyone and look at all of the cute things she was getting for her baby.  It made me even more excited about mine.  I can't believe it's in a week and a half.  We stayed up late Friday, Sat, and Sun nights, so I've been trying to catch up on sleep.  And this morning it is raining so I just want to stay in bed all day.

My feet seem to be swelling more now, which is not a good thing. I tried to put a pair of my shoes on yesterday and my foot was too fat for it, so I had to resort to crocs.  But I've been doing yoga and working out and so I'm feeling better over all.  (Well besides the overwhelming feeling of being hugely fat). Kaylee Beth has been moving a lot more lately.  It's not just little kicks and jabs; it's rolling around and head butting me.  My stomach jumps all over when she moves. It's also been down low most of the time, but not it's all over my belly, so she must be coming up and taking over more room.

I go back to the doctor Tuesday for a check up and the 4D ultrasound. Homer and I are so excited about seeing our princess' face!!  We're both anxious to see who she looks like!  I wish they could tell hair color, but I guess I'll have to wait a couple of months for that...

Homer is supposed to get back in about 5 weeks!! It's crazy to think it's just a little over a month.  I just hope everything is still going well with the pregnancy so I can be at the homecoming in NC.

Another Dr visit

Today I had another doctor appointment.  I had to drink the orange sugar drink so they could check my blood sugar level to see if I am diabetic.  I passed!!  Yeah!!  However, I wasn't as excited about my weight gain.... I gained 9 lbs in 4 weeks!!  This puts me at 21 lbs total!! I feel like a total fatty!!  The good thing is that I don't feel like I've put on a lot of extra weight, so maybe its not as bad as it sounds.... Hopefully!  The thing is, I haven't been watching what I eat enough.  My dad is a big dessert fan and fixes us all ice cream probably 3 nights a week.  Then for lunches, I eat out a lot.  I think if I just try not to eat as much french fries and sweets, I'll be fine.  I just don't want to gain this much every week!!

The good news is that Kaylee Beth is doing great. Her heartrate was great (although they quit telling me what it is!!) and she is a good size.  Dr. R says she weighs about 2 lbs now.  (Now that I think about it, she gained almost a lb since the last appointment, so I only gained about 8... haha!).  My blood pressure was back to normal, which was surprising to me b/c we got stuck in traffic on the way there and was 15 mins late and so I expected my bp to be a little high from fighting traffic.  I go back in 2 weeks for another check up along with our 4D ultrasound.  I didn't get to talk to Homer yet and tell him when we're getting it, but I know he'll be excited!!  It's a little more than I thought it was going to be, $175. But I know Homer is really excited about getting to see her face and so we'll still get it.  So hopefully I'll be able to show the video at my baby showers so everyone can see her.

I've been going to the gym regularly the past few weeks and feel better overall.  Tonight I went to yoga again. It's a good workout, but I'm probably humerous to watch. My legs are never as close together as everyone else, I can't bend over much, and when we're supposed to bring our knee to our chest, mine goes out to the side! haha.  But I enjoy it and it's good for me that I'm able to stretch some.  Hopefully, getting my muscles going again will be helpful during labor.  It should also help me not to gain 9 lbs in 4 weeks again!  I don't want to be one of those women that gain 60 lbs during pregnancy! it's gonna be hard enough to make time for the gym w/ a baby, husband, and medical school!  Well, it's off to bed for me. I've got another long day tomorrow....

Third Trimester

Ok so I had typed this whole long journal entry, and it erased it when I tried to post it.  So, I'm having to re-type everything.

I can't believe I'm starting my 3rd trimester tomorrow! (or at least by some sources).  It doesn't seem like I'm already 2/3 through pregnancy!  And to think that Homer will be back in less than 7 weeks!  It's amazing how fast time has flown by this year!

I go to the doctor tomorrow and will have the routine glucose test to check for diabetes.  Hopefully I will have good results and no problems.

This morning I was on the treadmill at the gym and noticed that my wedding band was stuck on my finger. So when I got home I pulled and pulled until it finally came off, unfortunately with a little skin as well.  So it seems that now both my engagement and wedding rings will be put away until after delivery.  So now I will be wearing the fake rings full-time.  Not only did I have some hand swelling today, but when I went to prop my feet up this afternoon, I noticed that I didn't have an ankle bone b/c there was so much fluid retention in my feet.  So I'm going to go take a warm bath in hopes of decreasing some of the swelling.

Homer and I have been discussing our future plans the past couple of days. We had originally planned on renting a house or townhouse if we went to KC. But Mr Walker had mentioned that he wanted us to consider buying. So now we've been tossing around the idea.  Since there's no guarentee that I will be able to come back to B'ham for my 3rd and 4th years of med school, it could be better not to throw away 4 years of rent.  Brittany's husband is a real estate agent and he even said it would be better to buy a house even for just 2 years than throw 30K into someone's else's property.  I don't know much able real estate, and so I'm letting Homer make the final decision on this one.  So keep us in your thoughts and prayers as we try to settle the living situation.

Also, we've been discussing health insurance coverage. Tricare will end July 1 since he will no longer be in the Marines. However, since we will be moving 2 months after the birth and I've found most insurance companies are only statewide, we have decided just to extend our Tricare service for at least 90 days until we can get on our feet and settled in KC. He could even get a job w/  group health insurance which would be great!  So even though this option will be more expensive, it seems to be the safest route, especially considering if Kaylee Beth is born with problems or if something happens to me in delivery, most insurance companies will not cover pre-existing conditions.

Well, I will give you guys an update on the appointment tomorrow. I also posted a few pictures the other day of me and Brittany (she's exactly 3 weeks ahead of me). So I hope you enjoy them!
