No Progress Yesterday I had another dr appointment. They told me last week that the dr doesn't check for dialation until week 38, so I wasn't expecting anything. However, the nurse took me in the room and told me to get on the table and left. Then she came right back, got out a sheet and said that I needed to take off my pants for an exam. I was actually happy b/c I was wondering if I was getting ready or not. Luckily, the exam wasn't bad at all. The bad part is that I haven't started dialating. I thought for sure with all of the contractions I've been having that I'd made some progress!! But I wasn't so lucky. But with that said, both Stacey and Brittany were 1-2 cm dialated for weeks and still didn't have their babies until around the due date. And I know that I won't have to go past my due date. I just hope that I'll be far enough along in 2 weeks, so we will have the option of inducing a week before the due date. I'm not 37 weeks and considered full term (even though he said it would have been fine if I had her 2 weeks ago). He also told me the standards for when to call him and come to the hosp, but also said, "If you're wondering if you're in labor, you're not in labor." This wouldn't have been much help to me a few weeks ago, but after the night with all of the contractions and the storm, I understand what he means. By the way, he did say that there's something about the barometric pressure during storms that causes women to go into labor. So last night when it started lightening, I wanted to go stand by the window... haha. Well, I'm off to the gym to walk in hopes that the pressure and swaying of my hips will help her get into position and open my cervix. We'll see. Hopefully next Tuesday will bring us better news...

Horrible heartburn
Last night I tried to go to bed at 10. However, my body didn't want me to. I had horrible heartburn again and was up for 2 hours. It's getting so bad that I keep thinking I'm about to throw up and have to run to the bathroom. Homer left yesterday and so I was on the phone with him complaining. Then the complaining turned into crying b/c I was completely exhausted and tired but couldn't get comfortable or fall asleep. Then I broke down and started worrying about being a good mother and having time for Kaylee Beth and Homer while I'm in school. And on top of all that, I was upset b/c I don't think I'll ever be skinny again and am tired of being fat. So, needless to say, Homer got an earfull but was very good at calming me down. After sitting up for 2 hours on the couch, my heartburn was better and I was able to fall asleep. I still get up at least 3 times during the night to go to the bathroom, and since she's dropping into place, it's been increasing.
Yesterday after he left, I took a nap. Then I decided I was going to do a workout video. After about 25 minutes, I was exhausted and just laid in the floor looking around the room, noticing all of the dust and clutter. I'm not sure if it was nesting or just cleaning, but I hopped off the floor and started cleaning up and going through stacks of paper work. I was getting so much done that I didn't stop to eat dinner until about 8:30. People keep telling me that there's a full moon tonight and that a lot of women seem to go into labor on full moons. So, I guess we'll be testing this out tonight. But Homer's back in NC and so if this does happen, he'll have to drive 9 hours to get here. I still think I'm not going to be early. I think I'll go closer to my due date and the only way I'll be early is if we induce the week before. But no one knows forsure, so we'll just wait and see.
Eloree took some pictures of Homer and me this weekend with my belly. So, I'll have to post those later. I've got to go get some lunch right now. Oh yea, I forgot to mention that last week at my appointment I got the results of my strep b test (the not so fun one). It's negative, which means that I don't have the bacteria and won't have to get any antibiotics during labor to treat it. So thats good!

Dr Visit and a baby
Tuesday I had another dr appointment. Apparently I don't really know what my dr does and I just make up stuff. Last week I thought he was going to do an ultrasound, but apparently your 20 week scan is usually your last unless something is wrong. And I thought he was going to start checking my cervix to see it's progress, but he doesn't do that until 38 weeks. So All I did at my appointment was pee on a stick, get my blood pressure checked (btw, it's back to prepregnancy now in the 120s/80s--it was up to 150/? at one point), and weighed (gained another lb, so now 31 total). Then the nurse checked her heartbeat (150-160 bpm) and he checked my fundal height and my uterus is growing normally and she is measuring the right size. He did say that I can go any day now, so I asked if Homer should plan to be here earlier than the 30th for leave. He said he delivered a baby last week and the week before, both at 35 weeks, but that it's rare. He said since everything has been normal so far that there is no reason to believe that I'd be any earlier than that, although it's still possible. He also said that most first time moms are closer to their due dates. So, more than likely, if I come early it'll only be a week early and only because we chose to induce.
But something way more exciting happened Tuesday. Brittany had Caylin!! She went in at 6 am to get induced and I thought I would stop by around 2 after my dr appointment since they are down the road from each other. When I got there, her family was in the hall and said she had just had her!! I was the only nonfamily member there and there was a little drama, and I had kinda wished I hadn't decided to stop by. But everything turned out well and I got to see Brittany and the baby for a little while, but left so they could have family time. Caylin was 7 lbs 13 ozs (my prediction from the day before, I might add) and was 21 in long. It's crazy how both big and small she can look at the same time! I went back later Tuesday with a friend and we got to see Caylin after she just ate. So she was awake and alert. She's so precious!! It just makes me even more ready for Kaylee Beth to make her appearance.
My cousin, Stacey, also had her baby may 9th. She went in to be induced, but had already gone into labor earlier that morning by herself (she was a day past her due date). She ended up having some complications where Alyssa had turned and her head was facing her pelvic bone and wasn't coming out on her own. So the dr used forcips and pulled her out. The stress of the complicaiton caused Alyssa to have her 1st bowel movement in utereo and they had to screen her and keep her in nicu to watch for infection. Stacey wasn't able to hold her baby until around midnight after having her around 5 pm. Everything is fine now and from the pictures she looks beautiful!
Tuesday night I was exhausted from the busy day and laid down to go to sleep. Then I started getting some nausea and had to get up. I took some meds and realized that you could hear air in my stomach. But not only that, but I could put my hand over my stomach and feel the bubbles. It felt like someone was underwater blowing air bubbles under my skin. It was so freaky!! So I laid back down and tried to let the meds work as I watched tv. out of the corner of my eye, I saw my belly start to rise. Kaylee Beth moves a lot when I lay down, and so I just glanced down at the bump... Except it kept growing and growing. It was a prob about 3 in high before it went back in and the perfect shape of her head. I'm not sure if it was the noise and the bubbles that were bothering her and made her move, but she had taken her head out of my pelvic area and turned to lay angled across my body! I had never seen my body look this deformed, so my mom came down to witness it. My belly was no longer any form of round and hasn't really gone back since. My mom noticed last night that it's still awkwardly shaped. But I hope she goes back into position soon b/c this is how I imagined Alyssa trying to come out, and we don't want that to happen to me too! So I keep rubbing my belly in a circular motion trying to coax her into moving back. But then I wonder what I'm doing b/c right now she's not in my ribs and I can breathe better and she's not constantly hitting my bladder. But I just want her to be in a safe position if I go into labor, which is more important than my comfort right now.

False Labor
Homer and his friend Tim (a groomsman in our wedding) came down to b'ham this weekend. Homer and I had our Birthing class on Saturday, so he needed to be in town for that. The class went well and although I didn't learn a great deal, I feel so much better about going into labor. Yesterday afternoon, we went to Mark and Liz's for a cookout with her dad and stepmom. I really didn't feel well and I figured it was just being drained from pregnancy and sitting in class all day. But I was having a few contractions throughout the day, but didn't htink anything about it b/c I've been noticing them since the ultrasound lady pointed them out to me 7 weeks ago. They had started to get a little painful lately with some of them feeling like period cramps and like I was about to start. Friday I had one right when I was getting in the car that made me sit there and wait until it passed and hurt pretty badly. Well Homer and Tim wanted to see Iron Man and since Homer hasn't even been back a week, I said I would go with them just to be with him. I wasn't to into the movie and kept shifting to get comfortable and kept having some contractions. They started coming more frequently towards the end of the movie to where I had one right before we stood to leave, then another after I used the restroom and had one by the time I got to the car. My uterus would get tight and would feel like a period cramp. On the way home, I got out my cell phone and started timing them. I had 9 contractions w/in 35 minutes, each being between 3 and 5 minutes apart and lasting for a min. There were possible tornadoes in the area and my parents were awake at 1:30, so I told my mom. We were gonna call the dr, but we decided that we shouldn't be out in the storm anyway and we would wait a little longer and see if it got worse. My dr said he wouldn't stop labor if I went from now on, so it wasn't a rush to get there to stop anything anyway. So I was able to fall asleep. This morning I've had a few periodically throughout the day and only a couple have hurt. I asked Brittany if she's had anything like this and she said she hasn't and she's almost 39 weeks along! My mom said it happened to her, but she thought she was close to her due date. And I talked to another girl that has a 3 year old and siad that it happened to her, but again was around her due date... not 4 1/2 weeks away! Homer has some classes next week to help him check out of the Marine Corp and so I told him to keep his phone with him in case something happens and he's giving me numbers of some guys in the barracks and other guys in the class in case I need it. I go to the dr Tuesday for a check up and I'll find out if I'm dialated (but after all of these contractions, my guess is that I'm at least 1 or 2 cm dialated). I'll let him know about the contractions I was having and see what he says. I know braxton hick contactions are normal and good, but the fact that they were coming so fast makes me wonder if I'm getting close...
