Today is my fourth day completely off cigarettes and I am delighted. The first two days after we found out I was pregnant, I wore a patch (well actually a half a patch as the ones Eric had would have been way too strong for me ). Then yesterday and today, I just didn't put on a patch, and I have to admit yesterday I got some pangs, but today I am fine!

Yippee! Never smoking again hopefully...

We have been to our first doctor's appointment. The doctor carried out a scan to confirm that everything was in the right place and at the right size, which it was thank God, and we managed to see a little blob but nothing much else.... He also weighed me and gave me the usual advice (all of which I am already following anyway) and also confirmed that I am due on the 20th October, which is exactly half way between my sister's birthday and my own birthday, which is very cool.

Anyway, he seemed happy with my progress. He was none too pleased that I don't eat meat, fish or eggs... but when I told him what I do eat, he was quite contented. He wants to see me again on the 4th March, for another scan, and then we will be able to see the embryo more clearly and we will see / hear the heartbeat!!!!!! Amazing the difference in two weeks.

Anyway, Eric and I are chuffed, now that its more official. Roll on 20th October... well, roll on 21st October really.

Eric and I have now decided when we were going to tell the various people in our lives. It is so difficult to know when the best time is; we have heard it is not a good idea to tell anyone until the 12 week mark, due to high miscarriage rate during this time. However, if anything bad were to happen (touch wood), we would want our closest family members to have known about the pregnancy previously anyway, obviously. So we plan on telling our families next week. Can't wait to share our good news.

Today is Valentine's Day. Yesterday I used two HPTs (home pregnancy tests) and they came up positive. Eric and I are over the moon, and want to tell EVERYONE, but know we can't obviously, for a while yet anyway.

Doctor's appointment next week. Fingers crossed all goes well.

We are going out for a nice meal tonight, to celebrate Valentine's day and our good news of course!
