Preparing for Baby!! Eric and I have been busy preparing the baby's room. Over the weekend, I painted the cot and some shelves that we are going to put up a lovely blue-grey colour. Eric also painted the wardrobe the same colour. I can't wait to take out the bed and put in the cot, and get the shelves up to see what its like. We have chosen a cream / beige bed linen and accessories to go with it - I think it will look nice. I will put up pictures as soon as we have everything in.
I am a member of a Spanish forum for mums and expectant mums so I got the idea to set up a Mijas Costa Mums' Group. We had the first meeting today and it was a great success. Its for expectant mothers, and mothers with their toddlers and children. We are now going to meet every Monday morning @ 10,30 am. What a lovely way to meet more people. There are already about 15 or 16 girls who have joined!
And finally, Eric and I start our antenatal classes tonight (that's Lamaze classes for the Canadians ) @ 7,30 pm. It is with a lovely Irish midwife calle Anne and again, its another great way to meet other couples expecting babies. I am looking forward to it.
2008-07-17 (27 weeks)
Lots of news! Well, first of all, sorry I havent written in this in ages but I have been quite busy working and with my mam and Kate being here.
So, there are many things to mention:
- My baby shower went really well. I got some beautiful presents (I will put up a few pics as soon as I can, but the general photos are on Facebook) and we had a very nice time, eating, drinking and playing baby shower bingo!
- Mam and Kate left this morning. Mam will be back on the 8th August so not too long. Kate will be back in October hopefully when the baby is born.
- While they were here, we went to Cirque du Soleil and it was amazing!
- Eric started a new job on Monday and he seems to be getting on well.
- Today I go into my third and final trimester as I am 27 weeks! Unbelievable how fast the time is going by. Only 13 more weeks to go.
- My next appointment is the 25th July and this time I will NOT forget to get photos. The baby is moving SO much at the moment, its like he never stops.
All good with me - pain is non-existent for most of the time now, thankfully. I am swimming every day and I think that helps.
My mum and Kate are here at the moment enjoying the sun! I unfortunately have to work. Eric starts his new job on Monday, which is great news too.

Doctor update We are back from the doctor's and here is the update:
- The baby now weighs 720 grams (1.6 lb) and is of normal size.
- He has his bum sitting to one side, which is probably causing the pain, as he is pushing on a nerve. The physiotherapist gave me exercises to do, and doctor said I can take ibuprofen if necessary.
- I am a bit anaemic. My blood results showed low levels of red blood cells and haemoglobin. But considering I am a vegetarian, it is quite slight.
- Completely forgot to ask for the photos today so walked out without them!! Next appointment is in 3 weeks though, so we will have more then.
