Baby has arrived!

2007-11-16  (19 weeks)
Four months and counting...

This week the baby is up to 8.5 oz and is 6.5 inches long.  I have definitely started to feel some movement in there, but nothing too strong.  Its kind of like a constant rolling motion.  I have a feeling that this baby is going to be very active and in a few weeks I will be feeling it very clearly!  I really can't wait!

I had my monthly doctor's appointment this week and all is well with baby and I.  My blood pressure is up, but the doctor said not enough to be too concerned, so we will continue to monitor it.  I gained 4 pounds, for a total of 7 since my first appoinment.  She said this is exactly where she wants me to be, so if I can stick to gaining around the same for the second half of my pregnancy we will be right on track.  I had to take another blood test, a quad screen they called it, which tests for risk of birth defects.  It will tell us if the baby is a higher risk for down's syndrome and spina bifida, along with other birth defects.  Again they had issues with drawing blood from my arms and had to take it from my hand.  The phlebtomist told me I need to start doing free weights to build up the veins in my arms.  I am starting to get concerned about what they are going to do in the hospital for IV's, etc...

I did find out some exciting news, that my next ultrasound will be on Nov. 26th.  We only have to wait 10 more days to see our little peanut again!  I hope that we can get a good view without seeing the parts that we we don't want to see...

Last weekend the Blake Shelton concert was AWESOME!  I will post my picture with him this weekend, he is so sweet and totally cute!!  We had a great time going out of town for the evening.  We sure didn't win anything at the casino, but didn't lose much either which I guess is a good thing!  Next big concert is tomorrow night, Keith Urban and Gary Allan (who is my FAVE!!).  I am listening to their CD's today to get myself all pumped up! Not that it takes much when getting ready to see Gary.  I am really used to seeing him in small venues so it is interesting to see him interact with the big crowds, like when he was on tour with Rascal Flatts a few years ago.  Not quite the same as the little places, but I am glad to see him for sure!

The kitchen has officially started to be torn apart, most of the cabinets are gone and the rest come out this weekend along with the walls and the floor.  I think Clint is very antsy to get this going. He has been slightly on edge all week!  Cross you fingers that all goes well tomorrow and that the floor underneath is level so he does not have to do a bunch of work to get the ceramic tiles to work.

Everyone have a wonderful Turkey day!  Remember you only have a short 39 days left to do your Christmas shopping!!

Baby Pream update

We are getting closer to halfway, 18 weeks along now.  According to the experts Baby Pream is about 5.5 inches long and weighs 7 oz.  Pretty cool!  I am still not sure if I can feel movement or not.  I feel something, but don't know if its the baby.  I am sure once he/she really gives me a good kick I will be able to tell!  Things are going well, I am feeling much more energetic these days.  My main issue now is the discomfort with my stomach muscles stretching.  If that is my biggest complaint I think I am very lucky!

Clint came home from hunting without getting a deer, but some of the other people he went with got some so they will split it all up. He made a lot of lists when he was gone and came home with a game plan for ripping the kitchen apart.  It all begins on Monday so we will see how the first week of remodeling goes!

This afternoon we are heading down to Jackpot Junction Casino for the big Blake concert!  I am very excited because Kathy and I get to meet him!!!  I am also happy to just be able to spend some time with my hubby.  I have missed him!

I have my next doctor's appointment on Wednesday so hopefully I will come back with news about the next ultrasound.  I hope its soon, I can't wait to see the baby again!

Weekly update

It has been a good week this week.  Halloween was fun, we got about 30 trick or treater's, some really cute ones!   I can't help but think of what kind of cute costume we will dress the baby in next year.  Something cuddly and warm probably given the fact that it always is chilly on Halloween in MN!

I did get the doppler this week as I mentioned and its so nice to be able to hear the heartbeat!  If only I could get my husband to think it was exciting... He was very wrapped up all kinds of things this week. Issues at work, getting ready for hunting and trying to get ready to start the kitchen remodel in a few weeks has been keeping his mind busy.  Maybe he just doesn't have time to think about the baby like I do?  That will all change in the next four days when he is all alone in his deer stand!!  He really enjoys hunting.  He says it gives him a chance to think about "things".  I told him one of the "things" he should think about this year is baby names!   Then maybe we can have an actual conversation about what we are going to name this kid!

I've got another busy weekend planned with Clint out of town.  Those who know me well know that I tend to get lonely at home alone so I plan all kinds of activities when he is gone!  Scrapbooking tonight and tomorrow night with Kathy and Jodi and tomorrow I have a spa day planned.  The works: massage, facial, mani and pedi.  I can't wait!! Then on Sunday I am going over to Jodi and Russ's to watch the Vikings.  I am just excited about seeing my main man LaDainian play. (The Vikes are playing the Chargers and will probably lose, but LT will help my fantasy team!)

The countdown is on until next Friday when I get to meet one of my favorite artists, Blake Shelton!  I will be sure to post the pictures!  Plus I know I have some more to post... next week I promise!

I got the doppler!

A few weeks ago I had read online about this website that you can rent fetal dopplers from.  I read up on them and then asked my doctor at my last appointment and she said as long as I use it just for fun it is fine to get one.  So she signed the prescription for it and I got it in the mail this week.  I have only used it once so far and it took me less than a minute to find the baby's heartbeat.  That felt really good considering the issues the doctor has had.  Now I just have to figure out how to have it read what the heart rate is, I suppose I will have to read the owner's manual for that...
