Baby has arrived!

Official diagnosis...
The doctor's office called and said I officially have been diagnosed with gestational diabetes.   I am not even sure what it means at this point so I will have to do some internet research this weekend.  I have an appointment with a specialist on Monday to find out what my next step is.  I would assume that they will try to control it with diet and exercise.  I am sure I will also have to monitor my blood sugar.  Kind of scary, but it sounds like it is manageable.  Please let me know if you have any advice if you have been through this!

Excited for the long weekend!

It’s once again been a busy week, but well worth it because I got to spend time with two girlfriends that I haven't seen for a long time on Tuesday and Wednesday!  Still it all catches up with you by the end of the week.  Yes, Thursday is the end of the week for me this week because I have the day off tomorrow!  Yay because we are heading out of town in the afternoon, but a bummer because I have to spend the morning at the clinic doing that three hour glucose test...  Hopefully all will turn out well with it and I will not have to worry about it anymore.

Our preparing for birth class was really good this week, we got to take a tour of the Maternity Center at St. John's , where our little one will be born.  It is a very nice place, I was impressed!  Although the beds don't look too comfy, they certainly are better than the love seat that Clint gets to sleep on!   The whole idea of giving birth is starting to make me very nervous.  The more that I hear about the epidural the less sure I am that I really want to get one.  But I know that I have a very low pain tolerance!  I think I will have to wait until things happen to find out what I can handle and what I can’t.  I think I will try any other pain meds they can give me before going for the epidural.  I am just going to cross my fingers that things happen quickly so I don’t have to worry about it! I have been so lucky throughout my pregnancy that maybe it will continue into labor and delivery?

We decided that we are definitely going with Wunder Years for daycare.  I called Tammy, the owner, to let her know this week and she was very excited!  She said to make sure and call her when the baby is born to let them know who they can be expecting in July.  I really feel good about taking the baby there, they seem like they will be very devoted to the baby and that is so important to me.  Our friends Mary and Dino take their daughter Amanda there and Mary can’t say enough good things about them.  She tells me that they are so helpful to her as a first time mother, which is also something that is important to me.  This is all brand new territory for me so any help I can get it greatly appreciated!

I am super excited to spend the weekend up in Two Harbors with my hubby.  I am happy to get to spend some relaxing time with him.  Although we see each other all the time, we rarely get to relax like this together.  Especially since he has been doing all this remodeling around the house!  I can’t even imagine how our lives are going to change once this baby comes.  It will be nice to get to just be alone for the weekend.   His plan is to discuss baby names and my plan is to come out of it with a definite list of top three for a boy and a girl.  Clint still has his heart set on not telling anyone the names though, so you all will have to wait until the baby comes to hear!   He is very excited to call all of you once the baby is here to tell you all the big news.  He is such a proud papa!

The beginning of the end...

I am now officially in my third trimester, a bittersweet time because I have truly enjoyed being pregnant and I am now counting down to the end!  According to some of my girlfriends (Jodi...) the last month I will be completely ready to have the baby out of my body!  Until then I will just enjoy the time that I have left!

Things have been going well, baby moves around a whole lot, but is very stubborn.  Every time Clint has put his hand on my belly to feel the baby it refuses to move!  Kind of funny actually.  The other night I was laying in bed and I swear the second Clint started snoring the baby decided to play kickball in my belly.  I didn't have the heart to wake him up! Last week, we watched the birth video in our baby class and I will be happy if things go that smoothly for me!  I am sure they don't show you anything more complicated for a reason...  Or if things go as easy as they did for Jodi I will definitely be happy.  Nine minutes and three pushes sounds just perfect!

I did get some bad news last week from the doctor's office.  I failed my glucose test!  They said the highest they like it to be is 139 and mine came back at 142.  So close!  So now I have to go in this week for the lovely THREE HOUR test.  And they told me that you can not leave the clinic so make sure you bring something to occupy yourself... Gee, I can't wait!  Hopefully the results from this one come back normal.  I have still been feeling pretty good so I hope that I haven't developed diabetes with the pregnancy.

Clint has been working hard in the baby's room.  The new wall is all up and he is going to have the taper come this week, so hopefully we can paint soon!  I think Clint is definitely getting burned out, but he keeps talking about new things to do around the house.  We will see how much more we get done before the baby comes!  He is definitely a guy that completes his task once he sets his mind to it so I wouldn't be suprised if almost all the projects get done.  One I would like to see for sure before we bring the baby home is getting carpet installed.  I think we are going to just get it in the whole house and it would be great to have that done before we bring the baby home.   I just want everything to be clean and ready to go when we bring the little one home!

Welcome Baby Ben!

The first of the 2008 babies has arrived!

Congratulations to Jodi, Russ and big brother Brandon!  Benjamin Perry Andrews was born at 8:39 a.m. on 1/18/08.  He was 6 pounds, 15 oz. 20 inches long.  He is such a little peanut!  Clint and I went to visit them in the hospital on Saturday and holding him I still can not picture having a baby that size in my tummy! He is such a cutie!
