Week 18 Today is the first day of Week 18! We got an opportunity to schedule a sooner ultrasound. It will be in exactly one week...on the 11th. We should be getting more ultrasound pics at that time...and find out if it is a little he or she!!! Exciting!

Results of our prenatal appointment today! Had our next prenatal checkup today! Things look good so far! The midwife checked the height and size of my uterus....she said it was perfect for being in the 17th week. I heard our baby's heart beating (at a healthy 150 beats/min.). It was so good to hear...it is still difficult to believe that there is a little being in there, but I heard the strong beat today and it makes it more real!
I had blood drawn for a complete blood count (cbc), a urine test to check for potential infections, blood pressure checked, and weight checked. They also set up an appointment at the hospital for us to get our next ultrasound on April 21st. I'm very excited to see the baby again and to find out if it is a boy or a girl! Oh yeah, and I found out for the first time in my life what my blood type is...I'm A+
So, yeah, looks good and I feel happy today. Joe and I are getting better...mostly coughing left.
We put some pictures up today and there will be more soon!

Week 17 Today is the first day of the seventeenth week and fifth month! Yea, moving along. Joe and I have been sick the last few days. He came down with it a little before I did, so he's in the coughing stage already. Not fun! But we're resting and taking care of ourselves.
I got in touch with the health center and made a couple appointments for next week. Next Wednesday I'll go in to fill out the necessary paperwork for the center and hospital. Then on Thursday I'll get a total exam: blood test, urine test, pap smear, cervical exam, etc. I hope we can schedule another ultrasound soon too.
Still feeling wiped out these days, but it is actually a relief to find out that I've been carrying a bug because I was extra tired in the last week and was getting a little worried.
Anyhow, I'll update you all on the appointments as they happen next week!
Best Wishes,
Anya :)

Thank you, Maya! Maya, my sister, found and sent the link to BabyCrowd and it is thanks to her that I now have this opportunity to share updates and photos with our family and friends! So, thanks, Maya !!! Tristan told Lara (my other two partner-in-crime-siblings...heehee): "Why isn't Anya taking photos and sending them...we're missing the whole thing!" So this solves that need as well. My family is spread around the world at the moment and it's tough to keep everyone up-to-date. My family grew up very close and everyone likes to be in the loop so to speak!
So, firstly, you all haven't missed that much. Mostly a lot of long naps and me grumbling about my sensitive, demanding stomach. I tell Joe that, compared to my previous activity level, I feel like a dud. He assures me without fail that I am not even close to a dud and that my body is working very hard. He is wonderful and gets me things that I feel like eating (the last request was watermelon...he was determined to get it!) and the shoulder massages are super.
We are right at the end of the Fourth Month (two days left in the sixteenth week). We've finally found a health center with midwives that take our insurance and that believe in natural birth. So I'm hopefully going in for a prenatal check-up in the next few days. Also, we're due for another ultrasound. Its about time that we should be able to find out if its a boy or girl! Over the course of the next month, the baby should be able to start hearing and I should be able to feel it move...I think this whole experience will feel more real once it does!
Pictures are coming!
Joe and I have come down with a cold the last couple of days, so we're laying low for a while. We've been writing a lot lately and will continue while we're battling the sniffles!
