6/26/08 Checkup!
Everything looks and sounds perfect!

Measuring: 30 cm (30wks)
Blood pressure: Good
Weight: Lost 3 pds (Have been watching my diet very closely this past month, so good!)
Urine test: Good
Glucose Tolerance Test: Totally normal!
Hemoglobin: 13.4 (Really good, not anemic!)
Baby's Heartbeat: 170 (A little faster because he was really hiccuping! The midwife said that it all sounds really good, though. He was moving my whole tummy with his hiccups!)

Next checkup is in two weeks (July 10th) and that's the day we also start our first childbirth class.

Its always nice to get good news at the checkup...everything on track and healthy! Yay!

Really tired these days!
The past days have been quite challenging. I'm tired almost all the time. Even though I'm not doing anything very physically active (except growing the baby inside, heehee), I still feel drained. And HOT...I am a furnace! Even when its not especially hot for other people...I'm probably burning up. Joe and I went to Costco today and, you know their super-refrigerated veggie and fruit section...the one where you ALWAYS FREEZE? Well, Joe was shivering with the cold as usual and I was...laughing as we left the room...it actually felt really good to me! Oh boy! Its just like in Father Of The Bride II when Steve Martin is dressed like an Eskimo and his wife and daughter tell him to turn up the air conditioner! Heehee.

We have our next prenatal exam on Thursday. I believe it will be the last monthly exam. Then they'll be every two weeks. I'm curious to see how he's grown...if he's still measuring ahead...or more or less. I also wonder if we'll be doing any more ultrasounds before the birth.

I am having some discomfort in my lower tummy. Most likely from the stretching. It kind of feels like it does a few days before my period normally. I am really lucky in that I've never had premenstrual cramps, and this feeling is also not cramps, so its not really painful...just uncomfortable...feels good to lie down!

Joe just got done shooting another short film. He's been going and going. He's pretty tired too, but we take care of each other and we're doing well overall I think.

I've been reading so much about labor and delivery, and caring for newborn infants. There's a lot of information to absorb. But its very interesting and helpful. I do find myself getting impatient for our son to get here, though,  and for me to have "my" body back...running...I can't wait! I do feel a bit helpless these days. Can't do very much. But we'll get there...one step and one day at a time!

We're not done arranging the apartment yet. We're still looking for a dresser on craigslist and possibly a co-sleeper. But the majority of the cleaning and organizing is done. Again, we'll get there. Its funny, I'll read other blogs on here about women who are further along than I am and it does make me impatient to get there too. I still have at least a couple of months to go. One of our acting teachers in grad school used to say not to try to think of doing the whole play at the beginning. Just think of the first line and take it from there. That's kind of what I have to do now. Or, in other words...don't jump the gun! False start...back to the starting line! Ha!

K, I'll post again after the exam and let you all know what the latest is!

Love,
Anya

Baby Kicks!
So, yesterday our son kicked me a couple of  times so strongly that I was shocked. I stopped what I was doing, and exclaimed, "Ohhh!" It didn't hurt at all. It just took me by surprise that he could be that strong and move my tummy so much. Joe and I were writing and it just happened. He asked, "What is it?" I told him and then he saw my tummy moving like crazy...its pretty cool to just watch the movements happening...rolls, turns, kicks, etc. Maybe the little guy likes the bread that I made! He seems to move more after I eat it!

We're thinking about "Julian" or "Jackson" for names right now. These possibilities are in the running after our first major scanning of literally thousands of baby boy names online (there are so many lists...and a lot of the names you can't even pronounce on the comprehensive world lists!).

Joe keeps trying the names out alternately. One day its Julian. The next its Jackson.  Joe will also run the Korean vowel sounds by Julian or Jackson. Or he'll get close to my tummy and speak "amniotic fluid" to the little one. I don't even know how to phonetically spell the sounds...but its funny.  And little Julian or Jackson (or the other name we haven't found yet) has actually started to move when Joe speaks to him! He likes it. Oh dear...is he already starting to pick up Joe's sense of humor? Heehee.

Anniversary!
Hi everyone!

Today is our anniversary. Joe and I've been together four years now. Time sure flies!

We're almost at week 28 and things are progressing well. We've started reorganizing our apartment to accommodate our son and the things he will need. Quite a bit of rearranging and cleaning and tossing out things and thinking what to get. It does feel good to get the ball rolling on all of this though. I think if we do a little at a time we'll get it all finished with a minimum of stress before the little one arrives! Its exciting!

I have been fighting a headache over the past three days. Haven't discovered the cause yet. My eyes have also been a bit red. I'm thinking its either the fact that I've been busier and sleeping less the past days or that maybe I need to drink more water...last night I chugged a tumbler-full every hour and a half because the headache was bad. Of course, that means I had to pee every hour and a half too...fun times!

We've been lucky with the weather. Its been nice and cool for a while now. Joe is thinking about how to install the air-conditioners before hotter summer temps become an issue. So far though, its been really comfortable.

Take care and be well!
