Final Birth Class Yesterday Joe and I finished our six-week birth class. It is amazing to think that we're done...it did seem to go by very fast. Now its just the birth left. Well, we do have a few last things to get for the hospital bags, but we're very close.
I turn 30 in two days! I think we're going to have dinner with a couple friends. It'll be fun. I don't feel too much like being around many people these days. I think I feel like being mostly a hermit lately. But it'll be nice to do a little something for the big 3 0 birthday... its a whole decade change! I'm looking forward to it!
Well, after next Tuesday, little JJ can come any time he wants. We're very excited to see him.
2008-08-11 (35 weeks)
Diapers! We got a super deal on our first diaper purchase at Albertson's! We cleaned them out. Heehee. We got the size 1 Huggies diapers. And we got a big box of baby wipes from Costco. It was pretty cool. We also got things for our hospital bags (toiletries, a light robe and post-birth undergarments for me, etc.) We are assembling the hospital bags now. And we finished the Birth Plan and printed it out.
Its really an interesting experience to have strangers just talk to us about being pregnant. They ask us how far along we are, give us little tips or encouragement, and they often comment on the fact that I don't look very big for only having one month left. Birth seems to be such a hopeful thing for people...and a great conversation starter!
Anyway, we're getting closer to showtime!

Baby Shower and More! We had a wonderful Baby Shower, thrown for us by our good friends, Viviane and John on August 2nd. It was so much fun and we felt so much love and support from so many great people! The food that Viviane provided was fantastic and everything was just organized so well. I think we'll remember the event for years to come! Thank you to everyone who was able to share the celebration with us and to all of you who brought/sent gifts for our soon-to-be-born son. He already has many people who love him and are excited to meet him. We feel so lucky to have so many wonderful people in our lives!
Our latest prenatal checkup went beautifully on the 6th. All is still on track. Little JJ is measuring 36cm (great for almost 36wks). His heartbeat is still strong and he is in the heads-down position...yay! I feel him kicking his little feet into my ribs and upper stomach all the time now. He's super stretched out. The midwife said that my uterus is more stretched out length-wise because I am tall. She said people might think that I'm not that big, but that its just stretched out and JJ has more room length-wise instead of pooching out in front or on the sides as much. But he's measuring the perfect size so all is good. I really feel like he's dropped down more since yesterday. He feels heavier in my lower tummy. I think he's getting ready!
We had our 5th birth class yesterday and we covered breastfeeding. We got lots of good info. I can't believe we've only got one class left!
We're getting down to the wire now. I feel like we really need to regroup and focus on what still needs to be done/gotten ready for the birth. We have to pack the hospital bag, wash baby clothes and blankets, finalize and print out our Birth Plan, finish organizing the apartment to accommodate JJ's things, and grab the last baby things before he gets here. Also, since we've been so busy lately with visitors, family, and the Baby Shower we've not been walking and practicing our labor breathing techniques as often as we should...got to get that done!

A Joke! Yesterday during our evening walk I got a bit tired and I had to sit on the curb. I said to Joe:
I either ate too much dinner or I'm very pregnant.
