Giving it another try.... When I first had Cade, I had planned on breastfeeding and while we were at the hospital it went really well. The first day home from the hospital it changed though! All day he was acting SO hungry. At one point, I fed him for 1 1/2 hours and twenty minutes later I fed him for 40 minutes and he was still acting so hungry. We couldn't figure out the problem. Finally at 4:00 in the morning, we were getting NO sleep because he just wanted to eat and was being really fussy, I decided to pump to see how much milk I got. I got NOTHING. The little guy was getting no food! I felt awful. So, we had to switch to formula. Finally, about 3 days later, my milk came in and I decided to give breastfeeding another try but it would hurt so bad so I ended up giving up on it and we have just been formula feeding all this time. Well, my milk never completely went away and we haven't been able to find a formula that doesn't cause Cade to be gassy and to spit up a lot, so yesterday I decided to give breastfeeding another try. It's going to take a while to get my supply built up again, but so far, he will eat for about 30 minutes at a time and then I'll give him a 2 oz. bottle of formula, just to make sure he's getting enough food until I get enough milk to satisfy his hunger. I'm praying so hard that it works this time and even though it hurts, I'm sticking with it this time because it's what's best for him and I know that it won't hurt forever!!
Last week, he went to his 2 week check up and he was already up to 8 lbs. 7 oz! He's growing so much and it's just amazing to see how he's changing. He's such a sweet little baby. He loves to cuddle and he loves to be held. We're trying to not spoil him too much though :) It's so hard not to just hod him all the time because he's so cute!
I can't believe how much I love this little boy! Everyday I just love him more and more. I don't even mind the early morning feedings :) I'm so thankful that I'm able to stay home with him. That is definately a blessing from God!
I'm working on losing my pregnancy weight. I gained 40 pounds while I was pregnant...awful, I know!! I've lost 24 of it so far, which I don't think is too bad for 2 1/2 weeks!! I'm hoping breastfeeding will help the rest of it come off!
Well, that's all for today!

Cade is here! I just thought I would update and let everyone know that Cade is here!! I had a doctor appointment on Wednesday, June 6th. I was 5 days overdue. After having my exam, I learned that I was only dilated to a 2 so the doctor said we would schedule my induction. They were able to get me in the next morning, Thursday June 7th! They told me to be there at 5:30.
Wednesday night, I tried to go to bed early but was too excited to sleep. I think I finally got to sleep around 1:00. We got up at 4:00 and I'm pretty sure that if I weren't going to be induced that day, I would have had him that day anyway. When I woke up and went to the bathroom, I lost my mucus plug (gross, I know) and I'm pretty sure I was having contractions. My back would start hurting so bad and it would happen about every 15 minutes. I'm pretty sure labor was already starting.
We went to the hospital and got checked in at 5:30. By 6:00 they had started me on pitocin and I was definately having contractions then! They started right away and were about 4 minutes apart. 30 minutes after being started on Pitocin, the anethesiologist came in and gave me my epidural. I was a little scared of getting the epidural but it wasn't bad at all. They numbed me with a local first and then he said I should just feel pressure once he started with the epidural needle, but I didn't even feel pressure. It wasn't bad at all and once it kicked in, it was WONDERFUL!! I was completely numb and couldn't feel any contractions. I was able to sleep, watch t.v. and my parents were there so they just sat in the room and visited with us while we waited. The nurse would come in and check me to see if I'd dilated anymore. Around 11:30, the nurse said I was a 4, so the doctor came in and broke my water. When they did that, they noticed that the baby had already had a bowel movement in the womb because some of it came out with my water. He told me it was fine and that it's common for that to happen, especially with babies who are overdue.
Once he broke my water, things progressed really fast. Within 2 hours, I was dilated to a 10!! The nurse checked and said Cade's head was still high so they wanted to wait about 30 minutes before I started pushing so he would drop a little more. At 1:45, the nurse came back and said it was time to push!! With my epidural, it was hard to tell if I was pushing or not, but apparently I was. I pushed for about 40 minutes and they said the baby was crowning so it was time to go get the doctor. He came in and I pushed about 4 more minutes and then Cade was born! He was born at 2:28 p.m. and he weighed 7 lbs. 10 oz. and was 21 inches long.
When Cade came out, we had a little scare. I was expecting to hear him cry and I didn't. He wasn't breathing. He had ingested the merconium and it was in his lungs. The nurses got him cleaned out pretty fast and we finally heard that sweet little cry...the best sound I've ever heard! Once I heard it, I just started crying! I was so scared when he wasn't breathing! They brought him to me and I got to hold him for the first time. It was the most amazing thing I've ever experienced. After all the waiting, I couldn't believe he was actually here! He was really pale so I didn't get to hold him long. They had to take him to the nursery so they could keep an eye on him to make sure everything was okay.
I had to have an episiotomy, which didn't hurt at the time because of the epidural, but once the epidural wore off, I was in a lot of pain! It was a few days before I wasn't in much pain anymore.
Overall, my first birth experience was amazing! I can't complain. I had a trouble free pregnancy, an easy labor and delivery and I got the sweetest baby boy ever! Nathan and I are just so happy and so in love with our little boy! I'm already ready for baby #2 :)

Almost there...
I am due in just 1 day. I can hardly believe that day is almost here, and I really thought we'd have a baby by now :)
Today, I had my doctor appointment and nothing had changed since last week. I just wanted to cry when he told me that. I'm still 1 1/2 cm dilated and I guess 80% effaced. He didn't say anything about how much I was effaced, so I assume it is the same as last week. So, now we just wait until next Wednesday. If I don't have him by then, I go back for another appointment and then if I don't have Cade by Friday, (June 8th) they will induce me. I really don't want to be induced. I've heard that it is more painful when you are induced so I'm really praying hard that he comes naturally..and SOON! If not, at least we know for sure he'll be here in no more than 8 days. I'm going to work a lot on my medical transcription school and work on some scrapbooking and cleaning to help pass this next week. I have a feeling it's going to be a LONG week :)
A little good news I got today though..I hadn't gained any weight since last week! That was at least something exciting at my appointment :)
I've been having a lot of pain lately and I was really hoping that was a sign that stuff was happening. I guess my body is just playing tricks on me! I've had so much pressure going on that sometimes I can hardly walk or even stand up straight. And at night, it hurts to turn over or anything. I'm ready for this pain to stop!! I know it'll all be worth it in the end, but that still doesn't make it enjoyable!
Well, keep us in your prayers that things start happening quickly and that Cade will be here sooner than we think!

Getting closer!! Today I had another doctor appointment. This week, I am 1 1/2 cm dialated (although he said I'm really close to 2 cm) and I'm 80% effaced, so I've thinned out a lot since last week also. So, I guess that is some good news. We were hoping for better, but what can ya do? I know that Cade will be here so soon and the doctor said it looks like we should be on target to deliver by my due date, so that was good news!
The doctor also said today that if I make it to my due date, Cade will most likely be right around 8 pounds. He was able to feel his head today and then feel where is legs were at and he said it seems like he'll be pretty long too, so it looks like we're going to have a big baby!
So, now we just wait until next weeks appointment, unless Cade decides to make his appearance before then! I can't believe I'm due in just 8 days!! He will be here soon!
