Baby has arrived!

2007-01-25  (baby has arrived)
January 25th, 2006

Ohhhhhh boy.  First, I've posted many new pictures of our beautiful daughter - so hurry and check them out before she gets any bigger!  hehe

Why does it seem a few weeks go by and there's so many new things to tell of.  Meghan is minutes away from crawling.  She's actually scooting right now, but she is starting to get up on her knees and hands.  She is getting rug burn on her knees and arms because of it - poor thing.  Is this something that just happens?  Or is there a way to help prevent it?  So scary - we haven't "baby proofed" the house yet.  EEK!  Meghan is such a big girl!  She has gotten the hang of sitting up.  She still falls to the side or back occassionally so we still watch her pretty closely or sit with her.

She loves telephones and loves hearing people talk to her on the other end.  She reaches for almost everything that she sees and wants (even if Mom and Dad doesn't give it to her).  She has learned to lap up little sips of water from a glass.  She enjoys biting on an ice cube (with Mom holding it of course).  Must make her gums feel good.

I just moved her carseat straps to the upper slots - I almost cried when I did it as I remember not too long ago her barely fitting into the lower straps.  Where does time go?!  She loves playing with toys now - anything that keeps her little mind occupied.  It's amazing to watch her face when she's just figuring out how a toy works.

I signed Meggie and I up for a parent and baby swim class at the rec center.  It's only 25 minutes every Saturday (starting in February), but it will be great fun, as she loves her bath and splashing around water.  It will get us out of the house and will be some special Mom and baby time.  I saw little baby swimsuits at the store the other day - so cute!  I have to find some of those water diapers too.  hmmm Target/Walmart maybe?

Mommy update - since having Meghan my knee has really been bothering me.  I think when I fell while pregnant I did some damage to it.  So, I went to the doctor and he thinks I have a torn meniscus (the rubbery cushion of the knee joint).  I go for an MRI here in the next few days to see what's going on and if the diagnosis is as said - orthoscopic surgery.  BLAH!  I'm gonna do it if needed - I sure want to be able to run around with my baby girl without it hurting!

Anyway, enjoy the pictures.  I promise to be better about updating.  I really feel bad for taking up all the space here on the preggo journal - I desperately need to find a new blog.  Any ideas?  Love to all and talk to you soon!

5 months old! Januray 16th, 2006

Yes I know it is January 16th today, but I was busy this weekend spending good quality play time with Meghan.  So, today I figured I'd take some time to update since it's been a month or so that I've written.  I'm guessing that my journaling time will become less and less as Meghan gets older and wants to play with her Mommy more.  Of course, as her Mommy, I can't help but succumb to her playtime requests :o).  She is so much fun to play with.  Believe me, I loved the little, tiny, dependant, precious baby of the past, but I am thoroughly enjoying the playing, learning, smiling, talking, rolling, baby of present.

So, what is new in Meghan's world?  Her first Christmas was a blast!  Of course she was more interested in the wrapping paper and stocking then the presents themselves.  She absolutely loved visiting with her Grandma and Papa Scruggs, Grandma K, Uncle Dan, and Cousins.  She can now roll from back to tummy and tummy to back.  She is almost sitting up on her own, which I give credit partially to her daycare (they have many cool ways of helping/teaching her to sit up.  I snipped off some of her hair in the back, the last of her dark newborn hair so that I could put it in her baby book as a keepsake.  Silly Mom cut it somewhat unevenly.  Good thing Mom decided not to become a hair stylist :o).  Meghan’s hair is growing in thicker as Mom’s is falling out.  Mom misses her thick luxurious pregnancy hair.

Meghan's been diligently watching us eat, so on January 9th we fed her her first cereal.  She took it rather well, and we've been trying to do it every night since.  However, we are still nursing (and loving every minute of it)!  She's still good taking a bottle for her teachers at daycare when I can't nurse.

She loves the Excersaucer that we gave her for Christmas.  In fact, when holding her she loves to jump up and down like she’s sitting in it.  It’s amazing to watch her learn.  I showed her on her Excersaucer how to slap the smiley faces and make them squeak.  Sure enough, the next day she’s slapping the silly thing to make it squeak.  She loves to make noise now whether it be with her toys or voice.  She’s very alert and talks (rather screeches).  She definitely likes to be heard and loves to hold a conversation with any willing person.  She’s starting to use syllables when talking, “mamama”, “dedede” and “bebebe”.  Meghan still loves nursery rhymes and singing.  She likes playing “Patti cake” and singing “Ole’ McDonald”.

Meghan has the most beautiful smile and brings sunshine where ever there is grey.  She is our sunshine.  She loves dancing, especially with her big brother.  She will move her arms, shake her legs, and giggle!  It’s a trip to watch.  She impressed the whole family Christmas Day!  Meghan is still such a pleasant baby and rarely cries.  Even her daycare teachers say she’s a great baby!

She is sleeping well at night (except when her teeth are bothering her) and wakes up to feed once or twice in the early morning hours.  She had her first bubble bath January 5th and decided that eating the bubbles was way more fun then bathing in them.  It was a treasure to watch.  She loves the faucet and running water.  While the bath is filling, she puts her hand under the running water to try and “catch” it.  The look of “why can’t I grab this?” is priceless.  Meghan loves to splash in the bath and seems to like her baths more and more.  Not mention how pretty she smells and how soft her hair is when she gets out.

Meghan has grown aware of her pet dog Dexter and kitty Loki.  She loves to grab at them when they are around.  Thank God we have such good pets as they just bare with it or take off.  We’re trying to teach her to “use nice hands” with them.  The dog can’t lick her hands enough, it is so gross and I still can’t believe she lets him do it.  I think I’m constantly washing her hands!  Hehe.

We are still waiting for teeth.  Some days are better then others.  I know it will be easier when one or two break through, but until then we do what we can to bring comfort to the aching gums. :o(  Meghan is such a tall baby!  She’s starting to fit length wise into her 6/9 month clothes, however, the waist does nothing but fall completely off!  Good thing Mommy knows how to sew!  I think her waist would still fit into her 0/3 month clothes if the length was longer!

It’s amazing to watch our baby grow.  I thought it would be hard to transition from the newborn stage, but I really love playing with her, teach her, and watch her grow and learn.  Our Meghan (as are all children) is such a blessing.  Even better, Daddy actually said he would like to give you another brother or sister in the future.  “I would be willing to consider it ONE more time” he said, “as long as we are in a bigger house and in a better financial situation.”  That makes Mommy happy, as it will give you another playmate and give us the joy of another miracle!  This means I get to keep maternity and baby clothes for now.  :o)

Well, Happy New Year to all.  We have so much to look forward to this year and so many fond memories to look back on in 2006.  I’ll try to update more often too.  To those I haven’t talked to in awhile – I promise I haven’t forgotten about you, I have just been super busy!  Much love to you all and look for new pictures soon!

4 Month Check Up

13 Pounds - 25th Percentile

25 1/2 in. - 75th Percentile

23 cm head circum. - 25th Percentile

Still a little peanut head.  Still skinny and long.  Doctor said she's doing great!  She does have some fluid in her left ear.  Doc said we just need to watch for ear infections.  May end up needing tubes down the road depending.  She hated the shots - cried for about 20-25 minutes after.  I hate the way she cries when she's in pain - it breaks my heart and I end up tearing up.  She forget all about it and woke up a few hours later happy as can be and smiling away.

Meghan rolls all the time now and Mom is having a hard time changing her diapers because all she wants to do is roll over!  She loves standing up.  She loves "flying like supergirl" with Daddy.  She loves talking and sounds just like a little dinosaur.  She gets pretty loud sometimes!  The Christmas Tree lights are her new fav thing to stare at.  She talks at them as if they'll respond!  First Christmas for baby - I still am in awe at how time fly's by.  I love my little Meghan so much.  She is growing fast but still so precious.  I can't imagine my life without her.

Houston, We have a Roller

YES, indeed.  Last week at daycare Meghan was attempting to roll over but still needed to get her arm untucked from underneath her body.  It must of felt awkward to her because she would then just fall onto her back again.  On Saturday, both Dad and I were on the bed playing with Meghan when she rolled over and then untucked her arm!  We both clapped and shouted "Yeah Meghan!"  She smiled and looked so proud!  That or she was laughing at our sillyness.  I know all babies do this around the same time in their lives, but watching your own flesh and blood accomplish these milestones can't be described.  It's a sense of amazement, joy, and pride.  Actually it's simply, LOVE.  A love in a category of it's own, a love that was saved for this little being I created.  How much I love my little Meghan.

She's talking alot now.  She squeals too, which she find absolutely hilarious.  It's like laughing at your own jokes, but as her mom I can't help but adore it and giggle at her myself.  She sings (actually "ooooo's")  "Old McDonald" with us and especially likes the E I E I O part.  Meghan has overcome two colds now, as have I.  I think I was maybe healthy for two weeks before I got sick again.  Time to really crack down on the hand washing.  I've always been pretty obsessive about it before - but I hate being sick and so does Meghan.  Time to quarentine the sick!  hehe.

Meghan's first Christmas is coming up and I'm so excited.  All Meghan wants for Christmas is her two front teeth!  Yes, she is still the toothless wonder, but I look every day to see if they decided to pop up!  We're pulling out the excersaucer that G'ma K bought her for her Christmas present.  She's going to love it - she can hold her head up and she loves standing up when we hold her.

Grandpa Hill came to visit on Sunday and saw Meghan for the first time.  We all really enjoyed seeing each other and Meghan sure showed off her smile and rolling over tricks!  Plus we got a whole bunch of baked goodies that Wanda made- YUMMY!

It seems like days go by so quickly!  Meghan will be 4 months on the Wednesday (13th).  She goes in for her 4 month check up on Thursday and I'm interested to see her stats.  She still seems satisfied when she nurses and seems to be gaining weight stedily - so I'm thinking they may not have us try cereal yet.  I wouldn't mind that, as I throughly enjoy  nursing.

I always feel like I'm forgetting something when I'm updating her journal.  I'm sure I am, but can always add if I remember.  I hope all my other journal buddies out there are having just as much fun and joy watching their little ones accomplish such milestones.  If I forget, Merry Christmas, Happy New Year and many Blessings from ours to yours!
