Blast from the Past...When We Found Out I'll begin by saying that we didn't really plan on having a baby this soon. If anything, it would've been early next year. We decided to make it happen because we've heard of stories of miscarriages and not being able to conceive. I was concerned that what if I wouldn't be able conceive any sooner. So there we were, pregnant after only trying a few weeks
On Oct. 8th, I decided to buy a test and checked to see if I was pregnant or not. I wanted to make sure I wouldn't be pregnant going to Dora's bachlorette party in sin city the upcoming Saturday. Surely enough, the test was positive. My trip was canceled : (. Sorry Dora...Luckily, there were 2 tests in the package and we tested again. This time the + sign became even more prominent. Kris and I knew then, this is was it. I tested a couple of weeks back, but it was negative, so when we saw this, we were in disbelieve and very much in shock!!! I asked him, "are you ready to be a daddy" and he responded very well. He said, "is anyone ever ready". hehehe, suddenly his face started flushing red and just gave me loud sigh. I know he's excited, but just as scared as I am. But, we can't turn back now. I began remembering all that I've been told and realizing that, oh Shxx, I'm really pregnant. I began tearing up. I tried to not let Kris see or else he's going to think that I'm already becoming too emotional. I just couldn't believe that the moment is finally here and I was finally going to have my very own baby! All my life, growing up with lots of siblings, I've always LOVED children and wanted a ton. To finally get this far is just an absolutely amazing feeling.
The following morning, my anxiety woke me up at 4am. I had too much on my mind now. Luckily Cindy and Jenny were in the east coast time and I was able to call them to tell them my news. I had to share it with somoeone. The first thing they said was, what time is it over there, why are you up so early? Once I told them, they were surprised and very excited

Announcement to Our Family and Friends On Oct. 21, when my aunt and uncle were in town from Florida, we had a celebration for my nephew, Cindy and my own birthday, Kris and I had plan to tell our immediate family the great news. I know they say to wait 3 months, but I was too excited. So, I went out and got same "Baby Ruth" chocolate bars and tied a pink and blue ribbon around it. When we blew out the cake, Kris and I passed out the candies and no one got it. hehehe...It's been hard for people to get what I was doing, but when I questioned them, "what does it say or what colors the ribbons", then they all got it! Once when everyone started getting it, they were all screaming with a surprised look. It was one of the best birthday gift I've gotten for myself . They were all very excited for us!!!
We had to wait a little longer to tell Kris's family because we wanted everyone to be there. Although, we told his dad, stepmom, and step dad in mid Oct. So, on Nov. 18th at his grandmother-Bubby's birthday lunch, we decided to make the announcement because his immediate family would all be there. Again we did the candy surprise. This time we crossed out "Ruth" and wrote in "Baby Cousens". While we were all waiting for the food, Kris passed out the candies and they all said, "thanks for the candies, that was very thoughtful etc." and I was like "what does the candy say " . The minute they got it, they all came to me with hugs. His cousin, Julie and Leann, then his 2 wonderful aunts, aunt Jan and aunt Karen came to me and gave me the biggest hugs ever. They were literally in tears. I had to look away. As emotionally as I've become, I eyes became very watery too. For all that his family has gone through, I'm glad that they were tears of joy. They were so incredibly happy for us. I guess because they were all very close to Kris and I and since there's only 1 toddler in his family. I didn't expect that sort of reaction, so that was a nice surprise for me. I've always told Kris that he has a wonderful loving family and I love them all very much. Their bond and love reminds me of my family. I can't wait to share our baby with all of them.
To our friends...Kris told a couple of friends about the same time. I only mentioned it to Jenny S. & Mary Ann before telling our circle of friends at Sandra's wedding. I didn't want to take away her moment, but I couldn't wait A lot of them didn't get the candy either. It was funny once they did get it though!

Odds of Having Twins Since twins run all over my mom's side of the family and for Cindy and I to be a "fraternal twin", our chances of having twins are 1 in 7. Where as anyone else has a 1 of 300 chance or more to having twins. Here's what I found out...
"You, your mother, or her mother's mother is a fraternal twin....These women may carry a gene for hyperovulation, which means they release more than one egg during an ovulation cycle, increasing their ability to conceive fraternal twins. The chances may be high as 1 in 17 if the mother is a fraternal twin herself."
So, if the chances are high for us, there's no such thing as skipping a generation! That's what my doc said too. It can very likely happen to us with our next pregnancy. We'll find out on Dec. 14th. Whatever we get, one or two, as long as god gives us a healthy baby. we'll be happy.
Kris would LOVE to have a boy to share his passion for cars and tools with and I wouldn't mind another girl in the family. So far, Alyssa's the only girl of 5 cousins her in cali. Besides, it's just so much more fun to shop for them

My First OBYGN Appt. - 11/06/07 I had my first appt on Nov. 6th. I selected the doctor that Cindy had. She already knew Cindy's background and what not. it's just easier to pick her too. I will be delivering my baby at the HOAG hospital. It's a brand new (2yrs old) facility. The delivery room allows me to keep the baby with me the whole time. It's my personal room with my own bathroom! Anways, the appt went well. She just asked me alot of questions, did an exam and took some blood for bloodwork. She also gave me a new mommy bag full of informations. So far so good. At the time, she said I was already 9 weeks. Where did the time go? I was much further along than I thought. My next appt is on Dec. 14th. By then, I'd be 3 months and will have my first ultrasound. They'll also be able to hear the baby's heartbeat and know if I'm carrying twins. I won't be able to find out their sex until the 4/5th month. Can't wait!!!!
