Ultrasound January 24, 2008 Today is a most wonderful day! This morning we had an opportunity to see Sparky Jo/Joe again. We could see him move. The ultrasound was over the belly and was just amazing. You could see the head, arms and legs – the little arms and legs were even moving! It almost looked as though the baby rolled over a bit as well. Sparky was very active and showing off for the camera (just like Momma!). The heartbeat measured at 176 beats per minute which is perfect and just where it should be. Looking at the picture you can see a distinct head, body, little arms that seem to meet right over his heart and tiny little legs. We were able to see a black spot that is the developing brain. It was the most magnificent thing to behold. We can’t wait for the next appointment in two weeks to see Sparky again. The growth between 2 weeks ago and now was incredible. 205 days to go! |
A Year of Firsts It seems 2008 is going to be a year of firsts for us - our first blog, our first baby, David's first diaper change (maybe!!). By now you have figured out that I am pregnant and due August 16, 2008. The news came as quite a shock to us, even though we had been trying. We were blessed with the news on December 17, 2007 and we able to share the joy with Ed before his passing. Even though he will never meet this grandchild, we know he was as excited as we are.
We had an appointment with an infertility specialist at Sky Ridge. I was nervous, David - not so much! We liked the doctor immediately. She was friendly, smart, asked great questions, and spoke to us with confidence. Our first doctor did not have the confidence and always left us with more questions than answers. She asked if I had ever been late before and I answered no. With a raised eyebrow, she asked if she could do an exam. She asked me to go empty my bladder and in the hallway asked her nurse to do a urine test. A few moments later, she returned and handed David a small test. Confused, David asked what it meant. The doctor smiled and said, “It means you’re pregnant!” Never had two people been more flabbergasted!
Now, you know our story. We hope you enjoy sharing in our journey. Feel free to share with us!
