Check in on your baby...
Okay, so I just have to say this first.  We started our childbirth classes on Monday, and we'll be doing this for the next 6 weeks.  The class seems like it's going to be cool, and our instructor is very laid back... I mean VERY laid back, in the sense that you're wondering what she's talking about sometimes.  You can tell she really likes what she does, and she's got a lot  to share.  We did this relaxation exercise where we had to tense certain muscles then let them relax... to learn how to fully relax and let all your tension go.  After that, the instructor said "Now let's check in on your baby, to see how they're doing... go inside you belly, where the baby is and see how they're doing".  Kind of weird, but hey... I tried it (not sure if Matt made it inside or not).  Then she said "Make sure your baby doesn't need anything from you...".  OKAYYYY.... I'm thinking the baby is fine, don't think they're going to talk to me right now, so I was just trying to get through the exercise.  At the end she told us we could check in on the baby anytime and see how they're doing.... I told Matt, I'd like to check in on the baby and tell them "Can you please move that foot, you're crushing my rib cage!".... heheheheh!  I'm such a comedian :)

We also had a dr's appt yesterday... looks like everything is moving along great.  I asked him if he could tell the position of the baby, and he said the baby is head down now, facing me... hasn't dropped yet, but in the right position.  I asked him to guess the weight... he said right now the baby is probably around 6 lbs!!  I mean, don't people have 6 lb babies and go full term??  He said we'd have a 8 1/2 or 9 pounder, easy... good to know that I'll be giving birth to a 1 year old :)  I told my mom and she said we'll need to get 3 mo old clothes now, because the baby might not fit newborn... hahah... very funny!

I also confirmed with the doc that I (my body) looked okay to do a natural birth.  He told me that I had an ideal pelvis/hips for natural birth and that my pelvis was "roomy"... I mean, if I didn't know better, I'd think he was flirting with me!  Come on... "roomy" pelvis... seriously, though, that's good news to hear, so the only chance of c-section is if I have complications...

I'll be 35 weeks next week and he said if I go into labor after next week, he'll just let me go... that's cool!  I have this feeling like I might be early, but maybe just because I can't hardly wait to see our baby!!!  I know I can make it through the next 6 weeks, so if I have to wait, that's okay, too :)

The countdown begins...
Well, just 8 short weeks to go... this is going by way too fast!!  It seems like it was just a few weeks ago when I bust into the room and woke Matt up to tell him the good news... crazy how fast time flies when you're growing a baby :)

Not too much going on since the last time I wrote, which was a long time ago.  We had a super fun time at Kristin and Josh's wedding... perfect weather and everyone was on their best behavior.  Kristin was the prettiest bride... even with all the catepillars hanging out on her dress :)  That trip was hard on me, though... sitting on the plane that long was no good for my belly.  I (we) were beat by the time we got home.  Then last week, Aunt Dee and Jack came out from Florida.  It was a pretty low key visit... didn't do too much traveling.  We went to the S.F to check out a lighthouse and Muir Woods... and we even saw a tiny little baby deer!

I'm feeling quite big and according to Matt, my growing belly is beyond the manageable stage.  Even though I'm pretty big right now... I know it's going to get worse... I mean this baby has to double in size in just 4 weeks or so... wish me luck!!

Bigger by the minute!!
Okay, so I literaly feel like I'm getting bigger by the minute.  At my last dr's appt, he said I had gained only 14 lbs, so I guess I'm on track, I just feel huge!!!  I haven't done a journal entry in a long time, so I guess I have a lot of catching up to do :)

Well, my parents came to visit from 2/28 through 3/7, and we all had a good time!!  We did lots of traveling (check out all the pics at www.yellblue.net).  I think we tired my parents out... well, me too... I was dead by the time they left.  We did a lot of driving around and I started to become car sick, which is a new thing for me.  I thought I was over getting sick a few months ago!!!  Anywho, my parents were here for our 20 week ultrasound and that was so neat!!!  We all got to be in the room when the tech did the ultrasound.  I told her we didn't want to know what sex the baby is, so she was careful not to do a crotch shot!!  But my dad swears he saw something, so now he's convinced he's getting a grandson in a few months!!  Mom and I went and got facials while she was here, which was fun, but I felt like I was having a panic attack with all that crap on my face... I think I scared the spa lady :(

Our dr said the ultrasound came back normal and the baby seems to be growing just fine!!  That's always nice to hear and we're so thankful to be having such a normal pregnancy.

We've been doing a lot of yard work lately and started working on getting the bassinet back to a usable state.  Last week was my birthday, so we went camping on the coast, near Ft. Bragg and Mendicino, for a few days last weekend.  It was so beautiful and relaxing... I even had enough energy to do a 5 mile hike in Jug Handle State Park.  I think it about killed Chewy (our dog), though... but he made it through.

The baby has been moving like crazy... it's so crazy to feel how his (I think it's a boy, too) movements are getting stronger each week.  The baby is actually waking me up, or keeping me from sleeping from moving so much some nights, and of couse, that's in addition to my normal waking up every few hours.  It is getting better, or I'm just getting used to it... but I've been feeling a lot more rested lately :)

We haven't done much to the "baby's room" yet, so I think we need to get started on that soon!!!  My sister is getting married the end of this month, so we'll be out of town for a few days, and then our Aunt Dee and Uncle Jack are coming to visit 2 weeks after that... so we are definetly running out of time.  I haven't even started thinking about what I'd like to register for, so I guess I should start thinking about that, too...

He's gonna be a soccer player!
Well, we both have felt the baby kick now... and I just can't believe how cool it is!!  I had thought a few weeks ago I felt something, but I wasn't sure.  While we were in Illinois last week, we were in bed and I was sleeping on my belly and sure enough I felt that same "flutter" in my belly... a few times.  I woke Matt up and made him feel and he felt the the baby a few more times.  Matt keeps joking that it's just gas, but I know it's not, because he felt it again when we were on the couch watching tv!  Now I feel the baby all the time... how neat!!

We had such a great time in Illinois!!  It snowed most of the time we were there, which I was totally excited about, but it was so cold that I didn't really go out and play in it.  So Matt's family was plotting for our trip and they threw an awesome surprise baby shower for me (us)... I was a little overwhelmed!!  Lots of family and friends showed up and I made many new friends.  I still can't believe how generous everyone was... we got so many nice things.  My favorite things, though, are the 2 baby quilts we received.  Matt's mom (Betty) made one (of course)... it has the alphabet on it and it's all hand embroidered and hand quilted.  The other one, Sharion, a friend of the family made.  Betty told her I liked frogs so she embroidered a quilt with frogs, butterflies and snails on it.  They are both so beautiful, I almost don't want to use them... but I know Betty and Sharion would want us to.

I feel like we have so much to do, but Matt thinks we have plenty of time.  We have decided, well, really Matt decided, that we're going to have a separate room for the baby.  But it's not going to be a nursery,  because I don't want to decorate it too much... I'd rather keep it simple.  Maybe some pictures we've taken on trips to put on the walls, but that's all.  So, now we have to move things around downstairs to make room.

My parents are coming in a few days, and we're both really excited about that.  We're busy planning fun things to do.  While we were in Illinois Matt's sister gave us the bassinet that she used for her kids.  But the coolest part is that the bassinet originally belonged to Betty, and Matt slept in it when he was a baby.  I'm so excited to use it and when my parents come I'm going to get my mom to help me paint it and get it ready to use again.

Well, I guess that's all for now... got to go get the house ready for the my parents' visit!
