Baby has arrived!

11/13/07

Well things have been interesting lately.  We were very disappointed this past weekend.  We were supposed to have gone to Annapolis for a wedding, and to get to see all of my side of the family.  Ryan was so excited to get to meet everyone.  We were unable to catch our flight on time though - four minutes too late for them to check our bag, which was too large to carry on.  We are trying our best to find another time to fly somewhere to see my family.  It was nice to be able to spend a day with Ryan, which is hard to come by.   We ended up going shopping on Saturday and buying a recliner.  Ryan has kindly offered it up as my pregnancy and feeding the baby chair, which he states he will reclaim after : )

Today I went for my 17 week appointment.  Things are going pretty well.  We were worried that I hadn't put on any weight yet, I have actually lost some since my last appointment.  We talked with the doctor though, and found out that this is common with first time pregnancies, and that as long as I begin putting on weight in the next four weeks then everything will be great.  The baby's heartbeat was 151 today.  The doctor surprised us by doing an ultrasound today!  We weren't expecting another one until 20 weeks.  The baby is growing and looks so long!  At first the baby was sleeping, but then Ryan began talking and the baby woke right on up!  It was quite active after that.  We attempted to find out the sex of the baby today, however the baby was being a bit shy about that area!!  No luck today on determining the sex.  We are scheduled for an appointment on December 5th in which they will do a more detailed ultrasound to determine the sex of the baby.  Cross your fingers that the baby participates.   Everything else at the appointment went well.   Thankfully I haven't had any more morning sickness in about 3 weeks now, which I'm certainly praying continues.

I'm very excited for tomorrow - we are going to start getting the nursery ready!  Ryan's parents have bought us our crib and we have picked out some bedding.  Wednesday we are moving the furniture out of the guest room and into the computer room.  Then we have to tape off the walls and prime.  We are also going to Home Depot to match the paint to one of our baby blankets.  I am so excited to get started on the nursery.   We will post pictures as we get them.

Be looking for our ultrasound pictures from today.  I will post them shortly!

Please keep Ryan's family in your prayers as the holiday season approaches - it will be a challenge with their loss.  Also please continue to pray for Ryan's youngest brother Brent who is still serving in Iraq.   He gets lonely over there so if anyone would like to write him a letter, please contact me for his address.  We would greatly appreciate any letters or cards to him as he too is struggling with the loss of his brother Jason, and without any family or his wife in Iraq.

11/1/07
Nothing much new has happened but I hadn't updated in awhile.  I had a fun bout of vomiting for about two weeks.  Fortunately that is as long as it lasted.  Hopefully it stays gone.  Otherwise the pregnancy has really been going well.  Definitely starting to fit my clothes different and show a little.  We are getting excited as time continues to go by.  In just a few short weeks (around 20 weeks pregnant) we will be able to find out what we are having.  It will be so exciting to know for sure and really start buying stuff!  We are in the process now of moving our guest bedroom into the computer room so we can decorate the nursery.  In less than two weeks we will be getting to go to Annapolis, MD for a wedding.. We can't wait to see everyone.  Our next doctor's visit will be November 9th. We will update again after the doctor and our trip!

10/13/2007 - Campbell
Today we drove to deep south Louisiana - true Cajun country.  We passed one trailer with a sign on it saying "We Buy Gators."  Later we passed a trailer with a sign saying, "I Float."  It was quite a trip.  We went to look at some golden retrievers that were being fostered.  Ryan has always wanted a bigger dog he thought it would help keep him occupied when he has to stay home alone at night.  As such we found Campbell.   He is a beautiful but very large 5 year old Golden Retriever.  He is very sweet, and very calm.  He is perfectly content just lay around and get petted.  He let us brush him, bathe him and brush his teeth yesterday without any fuss.  He gets along very well with Dixie, he just follows her around the yard and house.  I have put up some pictures of our new addition.

10/12/07 - Granny visit
This week was a good week.  Today starts our second trimester!  It is going so quickly.  We were so excited that Ryan's grandmother got to come stay with us this past week.  We had a great time.  Ryan had to work all night on Monday so Granny and I took dinner to Ryan.  It was fun to show Granny around Biloxi and take her on base.   Granny brought the baby its first baby blanket, it is adorable.  We got to all spend time together on Tuesday so we watched a lot of movies and went shopping.  I had to work Wednesday and Thursday night so Ryan and Granny had the chance to hang out and catch up.  We had such a great time and are hoping she comes back to visit soon.  She brought two of her dogs with her for the week which was a blast. It was fun having so many dogs around to play with.  We took all of the dogs out for their first visit to the ocean.  Dixie is missing having her playmates around. So far all is still going well with the pregnancy.  I've been feeling pretty good aside from some congestion.  I'm not really showing quite yet but certainly noticing that its a good bit harder to button all of my pants!  No food cravings still but after grocery shopping today I told Ryan he will have to help out with that now as I came home with some rather odd items!  We're excited about starting on the nursery.  We've picked out our theme - sage green and white with frogs and ducks as accents.  Ryan's parents are coming out for Thanksgiving and are going to help us with the nursery.  I can't wait!  We'll update more soon.
