Where, oh where, did a half of a year go?It's like I blinked, and it was gone! Happy 6 month birthday, Baby J! You continue to amaze Daddy & me -- with your smile, your laughter, your curiousity, your delight. You bring us SO MUCH joy every moment of our lives. We are soooooo blessed to call you our son!!
Baby J News: Jake loves the Christmas tree - he is mesmerized by it every time we turn it on! He also squeals with delight when either of us comes home from work - it's totally awesome - UNCONDITIONAL LOVE!!! Jacob can roll from back to belly with ease, both ways, and mostly from his belly to his back, if not too tired. He can sit up with a little bit of help. He has eaten rice cereal, sweet potatoes, bananas & pears. Peas are next (yum, yum!) He sleeps 6-7 hours at a time, on a GOOD night. He weighs around 19 lbs - a guess..we'll see on the 15th! He is \also on the verge of outgrowing his infant carseat....boo and yeah at the same time :)
Mommy News: I am telecommuting! That means more time at home with Jacob (YEAAHHHH!!!!) and a little bit more "juggling" of my schedule, but well worth it. I get the best of both worlds at this point: being able to spend more time with my son, and also know that I can provide for him financially, including insurance. All of which we are in need of right now. Here is a small Mommy Hooray: I can fit into my pre-Jake jeans!!! waahooo!!! Granted, they are not the most comfortable pants I own, due to my new shape, but who cares?! I HAVE A SON!!
Parenthood continues to bless me on a daily basis. I am so grateful for the gift of Jacob in my life. I have been catching myself recently just staring at him while he sleeps (or while he does pretty much anything, truth be told) and I am OVERCOME by the love I have for him. Sometimes my heart is SO FULL, it feels like it is going to burst out of me. I am so in love! I am SO IN LOVE!!!! LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE!

Back In Business!
Ahhhhhhhhh.......my milk supply has revamped itself. Not sure of exactly what helped, but it was probably a combination of things. Thank you to all of you who helped me by giving this first time mommy advice in how to do so. Support & encouragement is absolutely immesurable!!!!
Jacob is much happier and seems more like his "old self" following the shots from last week. He is back to smiling, laughing, playing, and discovering the world. What a precious gift. He started rice cereal on Sunday, October 15th (just one time a day for now - again, trying to keep up the milk supply). He LOVES it! It is fun to watch him get so excited to eat.
Last night we had the wonderful oppportunity to go out to the hospital to meet Jacob's new friend, Aubrey Olivia. Aubrey was born Tuesday, October 17th and is just beautiful! Congratulations to Holly & Scott on the birth of your adorable girl! Hope your first night home tonight is quiet and as restful as possible. We look forward to introducing the babies to each other someday soon!!!
Looking forward to a very quiet weekend with the family.....

Nursing Help Needed!
I'm still nursing my 4 1/2 month old. Recently, I've noticed my milk supply is running much lower than "usual" and I don't know what to do about it. Has anyone else run into this problem?
This weekend I was full full full, and engorged most of Friday and Saturday nights. Jacob didn't wake up much, so I didn't nurse. Yesterday and today I pumped like crazy and was lucky to produce about 10oz of milk TOTAL on each day. That's not enough to feed my 17 lb baby! Tonight he sucked me dry. And he's waking up in the night (at least 6 times last night alone) HUNGRY. The boy needs some food.
I work full time, but manage to pump at work just about whenever I want, and the last several weeks to a month I have been very diligent about pumping at least 3 times in an 8 hour day. If I work more hours, I pump more. I eat breakfast, I drink lots of water. What gives? The one thing I'm lacking on right now is sleep, but isn't just about every mother with a baby? That has never affected my milk supply before....
What to do? I really want to continue nursing....I'm not ready to give it up yet! Any ideas on how to pump up my milk supply?
I know I need to stop worrying about it....but it's consuming me! As any mother would want to provide for her child, I'm desparate to do what's best for him (and me) but really wanting to continue this precious time of just Jake and me.
Luckily, I have a half a freezer full of milk that I can supplement in when needed. I'm quite proud of the stock, actually. (Tim says we should sell it on E-bay - LOL)
If you have any useful tips, tidbits, or can share similar stories in my guestbook, I'd really appreciate it....
