Another prenatal visit, and trips to the baby store I went to another prenatal visit today. Not much to say. I listened to the baby's heartbeat. "She" sounds fine - about 130 - 140 beats, which made the midwife think that she was sleeping. I had her check my thyroid level just to see if its changing during the pregnancy. In the past its been very steady at "slightly underactive", but I just want to keep an eye on it. I want to make sure I'm a healthy "host". I also had her check my lead level. I recently realized that I may have made a mistake by working on stained glass recently, since lead is used. Apparently, I may have exposed myself and the baby, but the midwife didn't seem concerned. She said she has never seen anyone with a level high enough to be dangerous. I scheduled my next appointment for April 10th - that's when hopefully we'll find out that she's a girl!
We have been talking about names. Mitch keeps insisting that we need to wait until we know the gender. But I don't know why we can't just pick names for both until we know. So far, I really like Maya the best. Others we've considered are Jasmine (I don't know about that) and Juliet for a girl. For boys, the only one I've found so far that I like is Noah. I like Maya and Noah, because they are very pronouncable in Japanese, and we may even be able to find Kanji for them (for those of you unfamiliar, those are the funny characters that make up Japanese/Chinese writing like Wada: 和田 for example.) For girl middle names, all we've discussed are Chihiro, and Mieko.
We have a "fun" weekend planned. Tomorrow morning we are going to get a new car - a CRV, which will make it much easier to cart around this kid. Mitch is going to a hockey game tomorrow night. Then, the highlight of our weekend - we're going to the accountant to get our taxes done! I can hardly wait!
We've been looking around Babies R Us a little bit lately at all the stuff we are going to need. Fortunatley for us (as I've mentioned before) I have a wonderful sister/brother-in-law that are donating all the stuff Mackenzie doesn't need anymore. It's fun for us to get these things to start filling up the baby's room. It makes it feel more real - that there's actually a baby coming. Anyway, it's kinda fun to look at the stuff we want. Mitch's first request is a snugli - the carrier you wear so you can carry the baby around on your front or back. I can't wait to see him wearing the baby around the house. It's really cute that it's the one thing he insists on having. It's also funny hearing him question some of the things I tell him we need - like a bassinet, and a play yard (playpen). He can't understand why we would need these things. Thankfully, the play yards now double as a bassinet, so we only need to buy the one. But he was so funny when I explained why the play yard has a canopy. I told him that it would shade from the sun if you were at the park or something. He thought it preposterous that someone would bring this thing to the park and put their child in it! So I said "you know, what if you're in the back yard or something..." He just replied with the question of why in the world would you want to do that. At this point, I don't think he is understanding, just accepting that I want it, so we're getting it. I think the understanding part will come later.
I'm not feeling much movement from this kid yet. Just a few times when I was trying to fall asleep. When I'm moving around I don't feel anything, and right now, it's not like kicking, it's more like wriggling.
Well, I gotta go. |
This is truly rediculous Alright. Now I've heard all you people who've been pregnant before talk about having to pee alot, but seriously, this is ridiculous. I mean really, should any human have to pee this much? I swear I've peed a dozen times in 8 hours. If this gets worse, (and I imagine it has to since I have 5 more months to go) I'm going to have to wear diapers myself.
Mitch is freaking out. I blame my friend Kerri, who is also pregnant, but about 2 months ahead of me. Well she has her nursery all ready, closet organizers, clothes and everything. And she feels compelled to take pictures and show them to us. I think it’s very nice. Mitch on the other hand is close to having a coronary because our closet hasn't been cleaned out yet!!!!!!! Oh God, NO! What are we going to do?! We only have 5 months to clean out the closet!!!! What are we going to do?!
Well we pretty much told everyone at work about our news. The people we didn't tell isn't because we didn't want to, it's just that we don't feel like it. So it's not really a secret, but we didn't want to have to explain anything to the people in our LA office yet, so we just aren't making any announcements. |
