April 25, 2008 Today was an interesting day. Molly was misbehaving for a little bit this morning. The nurse came in to do the usual monitoring. Most of the time, the babies hate the monitoring. They start kicking and rolling around like crazy. It makes it hard to track their heartbeats at times. Well Ms. Molly decided she was going to do some flips. It happens a lot with twins, but she rolled over her umbilical cord. That immediately sent her heart rate down drastically. So drastic that nurse was about to call in the doc. I was a nervous wreck. I was really uncomfortable lying on my back. I asked the nurse if I could rearrange myself. The second that I did, I could feel Molly rolling again. Well, that did the trick. She must have unrolled herself from her umbilical cord. Her heart rate very quickly shot back up to normal. What a relief! The nurse said that although it is scary for everyone, it is very normal. She also reassured us that as they get bigger, the amount of room they will have will get smaller. This will then limit their ability to roll over their own cords. Thank god! A slight kink in the chain, but everything is great now.

Babies room is almost done. Most of the furniture has already arrived and has been put together. For those of you that don't know, the theme of the room is alphabet soup. Lots of cool colors and letters all over. Brian's job today is to get some letters up on the walls. Since we have a web cam, he keeps me updated on all of the things happening at home. It is already part of my morning routine. He calls me on the web cam and we chat for a while. The funny part, he actually got to talk with the doctor a few days ago on the web cam. The doctor was so amazed by it, that he actually brought back some other doctors later in the day to show them.
Today I am at 24 weeks and 5 days. I am still feeling great. We try and get out of the room at least once a day. When the weather is not good, we just go for a stroll down the hall. We like being nosey. Our next hallway mission will be down to see all the wonderful babies in the nursery. In a few weeks we are going to take a tour of the NICU. Being a patient, as long as the nurses know where you are, you have free access to the hospital. They also want to make sure that the wheelchair rides are pretty short. Not becuase it is not good for me, but there are a few other people that need to share the chair. We have to be nice and take turns.
It has been wonderful to see so many friendly faces. I have had lots of visitors. We have had a lot of good laughs. Thank you!
I'll keep you posted.

Good day today! Although the weather was on and off all day, we did get a chance for wheelchair ride. It was great to feel the sun on my skin.
Thank you everyone for your comments. It is fun for me to feel like I am still in the real world, still in contact with some normalcy.
Everything is going as well as it can. I feel really good and so far things are not so bad. In a few weeks, it may be a different story. I may be losing my mind. :-) Visitors are always nice. It seems to occupy my time and gives me something to look forward to.

So here we are, 24 weeks and 1 day. As early as that is, it is considered a milestone on the Antepartum wing of Forsyth Medical Center. Up here, every day counts.
Let me give you the info we have so far. I will (we will) continue to be here, on bedrest for the rest of the pregnancy. So far, things are going as well as they can. I am no longer on any medicines or IVs, no constant monitoring, I can get up and take a shower by myself and I actually earned wheelchair privileges. I still have to stay in bed a much as possible, preferrably laying down. The nurses and doctors come and check heartbeats and blood pressure every 4 hours. This may sound crazy but the biggest complaint that we have is the food. The bad food they do feed you, is just not enough for the big preggos up here. :-) I complained about it. A little bit ago they brought dinner. It was very funny. On my dinner slip, big highlighted across the bottom says "double portions." The tray was loaded down tonight. They literally gave me two of everything.
I'll keep you posted as things arise or hopefully don't arise.
