Baby has arrived!

Jalapeno's and Little Kicks

Baby's moving all the time now. You can see the kicks and bumps just by looking at my stomach, and Chad loves to stick his hand on my belly and feel the baby give him the ol' "one-two".

I have a feeling the baby is going to be pretty big, considering I'm only 19 weeks and we can already see my tummy move with the baby! But it's been an amazing (albiet difficult) experience, and now that I'm starting to feel better, it's something I can really start to just enjoy.

It is however, incredibly distracting when the baby moves. Every time it happens, I just zone out and wait until it's over, and if I'm in the middle of a conversation I usually have to ask someone to repeat what they just said.
Although I can't wait to see the baby in a few months, I'm saddened at the thought that I won't be able to feel these special little moments forever.

I've also started eating Jalapeno's and hot pepper's by the jarful's. I loved spicy food before I got pregnant (I'm told that I inherited this from my Grandad) but I've never before craved jalapeno's for breakfast, and I love it.

I just hope that if I have to give up the baby-movements in a few months, that I'll at least be able to keep my jalapeno cravings. I never knew how good they tasted on top of pickles.

Hi, My Name is Paranoid.

I'm probably just paranoid. Actually, scratch that. I know I'm paranoid. But it's not without reason, considering all the information and books and warnings about being pregnant and how careful one has to be.

I know that many of the things they tell a pregnant woman not to do are completley valid. Don't smoke, don't drink, eat healthy, stay away from caffiene, etc.
But I haven't gotten my hair highlighted for FIVE months - and I have roots the size of the Grand Canyon forming on the top of my head; all because the books say that there is no proof it's safe to color your hair while pregnant. The chemicals could get into your blood stream through your scalp, and be carried to your baby. There is no proof that it affects the child, but they still warn you. So, being the paranoid preggo that I am, I refrain from the 'what ifs'.

I don't do a lot of things because I want to be the best incubator I can for my baby. So I have been continuing to look a little haggard, with my roots growing out and the bags under my eyes getting larger due to no caffiene.

And then it happened. A few nights ago, I broke down. I had a sip of Pepsi. A very, very, small sip of that beautiful and delicious fizzy brown pop, which was really more of a touching the liquid to my lips and letting the carbonated drink linger on my tounge. It was heavenly.

Even though it wasn't exactly one of my regular trips to the hairdresser, or an extra large Cafe Mocha' with foam; it was exactly what I needed, just at the right time.

You know, to prevent being surgically removed from Starbucks.

We Know!

Well, Chad and I just got back from our first ultrasound. I didn't know what to expect, but as soon as we arrived for the appointment at 7:45am, my bladder was already dying and in need of a serious pee-break. Unfortuantley, I was not allowed to have one.

But I have to say, it was the most amazing thing I'd ever seen in my entire life. After the months of being sick, the achy bones, the sleepless nights; it all made sense when I saw that little bean on the tv screen. It was moving it's legs and arms like crazy, but the technician wasn't able to get a good shot of it's spine, which meant I had to do some jumping jacks and run on the spot - also not a great experience with a full bladder.

But the baby was either really stubborn or extremley comfortable (which the technician said is often the case) and resulted in us having to go back this coming Tuesday and get another ultrasound done to see if the baby will flip over. But I have to admit, I wouldn't want to cooperate if someone was poking and prodding me a lot either! Cute little silly bean!

We DID find out the gender of our baby, but I won't be posting anything on the website for those who wish to keep it a surprise, so please email us to find out more.

Feeling Human Again

Lately, I have been feeling so great, that it's hard to believe. My energy levels have finally increased, and I've been able to take Bandit for a walk around our block a few times in a day. I no longer feel sick driving in a car, and I don't really feel sick to my stomach anymore either.

It seems like the vomiting has stopped considerably, and when I am sick, it ususally just comes suddenly and is over, so I don't have to dwell on the fact that it feels like I'm about to throw up and announce this fact over and over and over.

I truly am getting over my morning sickness, finally. And I can't even begin to explain how amazing that really feels.

Today in the mail, a tiny package came for me from my Doctors office. It was a letter and pamphlet on what to expect about "abnormal cells" and a bit more information that made it clearer to both Chad and I about what we may have to face.
Apparently there are three types of abnormal levels that the cells could be at. Low, Mild, or Cancerous. The pamphlet did say that if the cells are already cancerous, that your Doctor would proceed right away - even during pregnancy - to figure something out with you. Otherwise, they can wait 3-6 months which is what our Doctor is doing with us.

So, basically, good news all around!

Next week we go in for our ultrasound and will finally see what our baby looks like. We're so excited and I can't wait to bring home some pictures of our first little baby! If we are able to find out what the baby's gender is, (I hope, hope, hope!) we will not be posting that information on this journal as we are respecting family wishes of those who want it to be surprise. So, for those of you who do want to know, you will have to ask us personally.

We hope you're all having a wonderful end to 2007 and stay warm!

Love to all,
Chad, Anna, Baby Herm, & Bandit
