Baby has arrived!

2008-02-13  (27 weeks)
6 mo prenatal visit

Went in yesterday for 27 wk appt. They did the glucose test which wasn't bad, it just tasted like orange soda. I checked the website for KP but they don't have the results yet. We watched a preterm labor + pp depression video while waiting and then I had to get blood drawn + get the Rhogan shot since I'm RH -. The baby's heartbeat was a strong 150. I'm measuring around 28wks the OB said. She said my belly won't stick out too much since I have a long abdomen. I won't go in until 32 wks again + they won't test protien in urine until then.

We interviewed doulas Sat. and decided which one we liked best but are not completely sure yet if we want someone there during our special experience. Also they upped the prices to $700 for 2008. We'll see, it's not like it's covered by ins.. We'll hopefully get a painter in this wk for the baby's room + other rooms, my hubby made some shelves the past couple days.  He also finally felt a big kick the other day.

I'm still feeling good, some groin muscle pain still when I'm siting around at nite. Won't have another yoga session until sometime in Mar. so will probably get a video. We start the childbirth prep. class at the end of the month.

Well I have to go back to work in a 1/2 hr for 3.5 hrs parent conferences. Hope it goes by fast. Doubt many parent will come.

nuttin' much new
Tried to go on a hike today, but there was too much climbing + elevation gain (we started at at least 9500ft) so I turned around after not too long. Stupid to not get the exercise since yesterday it was too cold + windy when we tried to another place. I just don't wanna overdo it w/ trials I don't know. Still have the pulled groin muscle somewhat but not as much at least today, the NP said it can last up to 6 wks! Don't go in for another wk. to do the GD test. There was also a doula at the last yoga class, I'm considering, because it reduces complications to have the support, and psychologically esp. the 1st time, being nervous and maybe panicky. We'll interview 1 but not sure as it's not covered by ins. and about $600. We'll see. I'll update photos when I get others off the stick in a few days but nothing much to see yet, not really a belly yet, just a bigger version of the regular flabby belly I got. Not anything that looks pg yet so stil haven't said anything @ work, can probably wait another couple wks...

groin muscle pulled..
Yeah not fun, well we were in Vail/Beaver Creek this past wk.end and as soon as I got on my x-country skis yesterday, it felt like I'd pulled those muscles. I nevertheless went for about 1h20m, not wanting to waste the trail fee I'd paid, but it wasn't easy to walk the rest of the day, and today it still feels somewhat pulled...Why I ask? I x-countried a little Sat and was fine, and last time I did was 1 mo. ago. Maybe it's the weight of the uterus and the ligaments streching. I HOPE I can manage to x-country when we go back in 1 mo or so, it's a great exercise + I can't ski, longing for those nice slopes there.Other than that nothing much to report. Somewhat more movement but my hubby can't feel the baby yet. Only 16 wks to go!! Yippi! (ha, I'm thinking it's as long as since the end of Sept and that's a while!)

5mo. prenatal visit

Went in yesterday for the 3rd visit, nothing much to report. Ultrasound 2.5 wks ago was good, they heard the heatbeat at 148bpm, measured uterus. Although I find it hard they can measure when there's not belly protruding! Will go back in a month to do the glucose test. Will have to get a blood type vaccine if my hubby's not a negative blood type. Have only gained 1 lb since the last visit 6 wks ago, the NP said that was great! I will hopefully only get away gaining 10 lbs at the end then. All the fat is transferring itself. A coworker said she thought I'd lost wgt. well I guess there's less in butt + thighs. Yippi!

Started a pren.yoga class Tues. Am the only one besides a 13wker that doesn't have a belly. Many of them are w/in 1-2 wks of me. Of course the poses are a lot easier and the class allows for probably 30 m. each time for chat + reflection. Well a good way to hopefully get to know others here in town. Will go snowshoeing tomorrow while my hubby + sister ski, next wk.end we're going to Beaver Creek for 3 days so hopefully I'll keep myself entertained enough snowshoeing + xcountry skiing.
